The reason for me coming to this site is I would like to make some new friends. If I were to meet a "friend" and things were to develop into a more significant relationship, that would be something I would welcome.

My interests are varied, but some of the most important to me are things like art, good books, music, and the outdoors.

Books are something I particularly enjoy, and I've amassed a small but treasured library of rare material over the years. Subject matter is quite varied, but I particularly enjoy history.

For the last 20+yrs I've worked at a job that requires me to be outdoors, as in "in the woods", and that has suited me just fine. Being self employed suits me. It is very strenuous and dangerous work though to be honest, when I was younger that never really bothered me in fact I seemed to thrive on it, but after this long at it I don't care so much for those two aspects of it.

In the last 9 years I have taken a serious interest in art and have actually sold a few of my pieces. This was very exciting for me and I plan on pursuing that further. I also play acoustic guitar, well I try anyway! Have a lot of fun with that, really helps me get through the long winters we have here.

Have two dogs and three horses. The dogs are a German Shorthair and Jack Russell Terrier, the horses are Pinto Paints. Like to ride (western) and really enjoy training horses, learned a lot from the time I've spent working with them. I grew up on a farm and would consider myself to be a country boy at heart, but feel equally at ease in "the big city". I could never imagine myself living in a large metropolitan area for any extended period though. I'm more of a wide open spaces kind of person.

Love to travel and have done a fair amount of it over the years. Continually looking for new things to see and learn about, just curious about the world and all it may have to offer. I recently returned from a 10 day trip to Paris. What a wonderful place. Didn't have any particular itinerary, just got to wander around for 10 days. Gosh it was fun, hope to be able to take some more trips like that. I'd really enjoy visiting Italy next.

I have worked very hard for many years to get in the position I am in now, would like to begin enjoying myself a little more, meet some new people, hopefully make some new friends. I own my own home and live comfortably.

The perfect person for me would be someone who is kind of a romantic, open minded, someone who is a thinker and not just a believer, takes there health seriously and takes care of themselves, enjoys the finer things in life and likes to learn about new things. Someone who takes pride in who they are, what they have accomplished, and dedicates themselves to whatever it is they may be undertaking.

A first date? I think it's probably a good idea to go out for coffee or something similar when meeting for the first time. Then, who knows? One thing I really enjoy is just being able to talk with someone who shares common interests.
