Hi there,

I am an admirer of both reason and passion. I am a scholar by training, though I read avidly, write stories, have a fondness of old norse myths, love music, adore camping and cherish frank encounters with people. While I live a stable life, occasionally I like to throw caution to the wind and let the dice fall where they may.

I am here because I recently finished my M.A., which entailed much head-burrying in books and little socializing, so I want to meet new people. Also, I'm new to the region.

Yes, I'm a single dad. This doesn't mean I'm looking for a surrogate mother, however. Actually, don't expect to meet my kid for a long time. I'm just looking for new people like any other fellow.

What to expect from me:
1. I live with intent: No point in life at the whim of our environment. Shape it; shape yourself.
2. I own up to myself: I try to be honest inside and out.
3. I enjoy building community: What good is anything if you have no one to share it with?
4. I'm no player. Down the road I'll be your loyal partner if treated in kind.

To give you an idea - My favorite stuff:
Books: The Alchemist, the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, La Peste, Le Petit Sauvage, Plato. Oh yeah, and my alma-matter, comic books! In days of yore I read Marvel classics, though I've moved on to graphic novels. Gotta keep the dream of the fantastic alive!

Movies: Waking Life, True Romance, Boondock Saints, Crash, Apocalypse Now, Fight Club, Fear & Loathing in L.V., The Ninth Gate, anything that makes you think and feel.

Music: Everything that has REAL artistic merit; they all have their place and time. Rock more so than others!

Seeing as you ladies seem to talk more about what you want than who you are, I'm going to give you a taste of your own medicine :)
I am looking for:

1. A lady who's lived enough to understand hardship and appreciate good things.
2. Someone who's got class and the ability to shed it when it gets in the way of life.
3. Text under the table on the first date, it'l also be the last.
4. No expectations or preconceptions - feel free to be yourself. We skip the games.
5. Chivalry's alive, but slavery isn't. If you want to be my equal, pay your share :P
6. If you're looking for a quicky, power to you. But I want to invest in the future.

I suggest an evening at a classy Irish pub (i swear its not an oxymoron) or quiet restaurant. That way we can talk and learn about each other instead of screaming over music and awkwardly pretending we hear each other.
