A first date always seems to have such tension. I think that a first date should come after a first "meet." I would suggest first getting together for a cup of coffee or maybe a drink at a casual bar. Someplace that you can bring a friend along as a "wingman." If things go well, then you can discuss a second meeting, the First Date.
I would prefer a nice, comfortable place to get lost in each other's eyes.
