I am a serious, intelligent, mature gay male, with salt-and-pepper hair. In my opinion (and others', for that matter), I'm not bad looking and in reasonable shape. Into healthy eating (semi-vegetarian). Facial hair: moustache and close-trimmed goatee.
I am retired and lead a rather quiet life. I have a lot of time for reading, probably too much time to spend on buying, fixing, and eating food. (Maybe one day I'll be able to share my culinary talents with you, 'cause I'm a good cook!) My work life was spent in writing (technical writing and advertising copy writing), editing, and teaching.
I'm a very verbal type and love to play with words. I hope you can tolerate puns, because I may inflict some of mine on you! I'm well educated and pretty literate. Widely knowlegeable, fairly well traveled.
I like almost all cultural pursuits. I go to museum exhibits, Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, and sometimes classical concerts. Occasionally I like music other than classical, but I'm pretty ignorant of most rock/pop music and in fact of popular culture in general. However, I do try to keep up with what's going on in many spheres; that, and having taught college-age students, may have kept me youthful in outlook.
Someone said that I'm discerning. I'm one of those classic examples of the champagne taste and beer budget--but I think I could manage to pop (no pun) for a bottle of champagne once in a while. I just need someone to share that bottle of champagne with.

I'm open to meeting over coffee, but I do have this romantic fantasy of a super date in a quiet, dark restaurant with a candle on the table, wine in our glasses, and a very charming guy sitting opposite me. Maybe that's not for the first date. How about second, third?
I've gone to movies on first dates, too, but the time spent watching the movie, though it's time spent together, is not time spent getting to know one another. Besides, I've put guys off by taking them to movies that were too out-of-the-way for them! Well, be warned. :)
