I have decided to create a new profile on the site, as my last seemed somewhat limited and negative. For those familiar with my old profile the basics still hold. I moved back to Canada/Toronto a few years ago after living in Manhattan for 16yrs. After such an absence my social circle was reduced to a few wonderful close friends and family. I have found the transition somewhat difficult but also have grown to appreciate the city more. So too with this site; most here seem somewhat skeptical about on-line dating, yet hopeful and the longer I have been on the site I have come to appreciate its quirks and eccentricities and plan to take a more active role. What ever its faults POF I hope the site might at least provide an outlet for healthy exchanges of e-mail and friendships if nothing else.

My interests are broad and varied. Having lived in Manhattan for so long I am obviously an urbanite but I also greatly appreciate rural and natural settings. When in NYC I loved taking a break from the city for a day ride on my motorcycle into the Catskills with the simple intention of getting lost and exploring the area. Now back in Canada I would love to get some serious canoeing done as it has been years since I last did any tripping. It is obvious from my photo and profile name that I have a love of sailing; I have no claim to great skill, but do have experience both single-handed and crewing, both fresh and salt water. When home bound I prefer reading and intellectual activity to television but I must to some viewing (30 Rock). For all those gardeners out there I do appreciate your efforts but have little to no experience with soil (urbanite). Love the arts in all its forms and manifestations. Greatly appreciate radio; CBC during the week and NPR (old habits) on the weekend.

I listed myself in the dating category, which if anything reflects that I lead a quite satisfactory single life and my lingering skepticism about on-line dating. I would love to correspond with any interested in my profile with an eye to dating and friendship and always hopeful that such a relationship might develop into something long-term. These are the basics for now and I am sure I will tweak this over the next while.

Something casual, non-stressful for all with the possibility for more if that ineffable quality chemistry breaks the surface; always open to suggestions.
