I'm a nice and normal guy. I am 48 with a 16 year old son, but he'll be in college in a couple of years. I moved to Virginia for an old girlfriend, and that bombed out after about 10 months. I would enjoy getting to know someone local to me (within an easy driving distance) because I've found that long distance relationships are challenging at best. I enjoy all kinds of music, sporting events, quiet time at home, and spontaneous trips for no reason except we've never been there. I'm intelligent, and I like to talk and I probably wear my feelings on my sleeve more than most other men. I'd like to find someone to spend the rest of my life with. How about you? I guess it all depends. The standard dinner and a movie followed by the awkward first kiss is an old standby, but anything can be fun if you're with someone interesting. Finding someplace to talk and get to know the other person is a real plus, and I've found the best "first dates" often go on for hours with both of us lost in conversation. I guess when the talking stops is when the trouble starts, because then you try to fill the silence with something else, or it's a sign of incompatibility. I want someone with whom I can spend the rest of my life, and while I understand that there won't be fireworks and thrills 24/7, I don't want to be bored to death either, nor bore my partner to death. I think compatibility and someone who complements me works well. Ideally my partner and I would form a perfect whole, and the relationship would definitely be greater than just the sum of the parts.
