I'm very even-tempered, cheerful, and optimistic about life. I'm quick to smile and laugh easily.

I am very accomplished in my career and feel lucky to be doing work that I love. I work hard when I am in the office, but rarely put in more than a 40 hour work week. I'm overeducated with two graduate degrees, but am not a know it all. I'm very curious about the world around me and enjoy learning.

In a relationship, I'm generally much more interested in the company and the time spent together than what we actually do.

I like holding hands and think unexpected kisses are the best kind.

I'm still listening to my old CDs from when I was a dj at an alternative rock station in the mid-90s. The Pixies and the Flaming Lips are two favorites. I also like jazz - Lee Morgan, Horace Silver, Miles Davis - not Kenny G.

A few of favorite movies are The Ususal Suspects, Before Sunrise, The Shawshank Redemption, anything by the Cohen Brothers, Juno, Religulous, the new Star Trek movie.

I enjoy reading. David Sedaris is a favorite. Other authors I like are Nick Hornby, Chuck Palahnuik, Annie Dillard, and Jane Smiley. I love reading travel guides - even about places I'm not planning to go.

Allergy alert: I share my life with an extremely well behaved English Labrador Retriever and two cats.

Those are the probably the three most important qualities I'm looking for in a man. A sense of humor and positive attitude about life are also important.

I haven't met the right man yet. I am open to a wide range of possibilities at this point and don't want to limit myself by giving you a laundry list of qualifications for going on a date with me. I believe that finding the right person is something like 80% chemistry and only about 20% resume anyway.

It would be nice if we had some things in common, but sometimes it's our differences that make things interesting.

I usually like to meet for a cup of coffee the first time I meet a new person. We can sit and talk a while and get a better sense of each other in person than we can online. If that goes well, we can do something a little more date-like for our second date - Maybe meet at the Reston Town Center for lunch and then take a walk afterwards. Or spend the day at a vineyard. I like movies, but don't think they make very good first or second dates because we won't really have much of a chance to talk to each other.
