I’m a tall teddy bear who resembles Chevy Chase with a moustache. Warm & cuddly, thoughtful & compassionate, and a good conversationalist. A very good balance between Mars & Venus characteristics…that is, very much in touch with my feelings & emotions, and also good with planning, organization, problem solving, logic and sensibility. Quick with a joke, and with an irreverent sense of humor…the easily offended need not apply. I love to smile & to laugh, and want my companion to be that way, too.

I believe strongly in truth and truthfulness as the ONLY basis of any relationship (from ‘just friends’ on up). I believe that you only go around once, but if you do it right, once should be enough, and if you do it with the right companion, once should be plenty for the both of us. I believe in striking a careful balance between learning from yesterday, enjoying today, and planning for tomorrow.

I enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities, and I love to travel. Any excuse for a road trip is almost always a treat. In the past several years, I’ve been to Florida (including the Keys), Brazil, southern California, Las Vegas, and a number of beaches on the east coast. I especially love the ocean…makes sense, living in the Midwest, huh?

I enjoy a wide variety of indoor entertainment, including movie theaters, live theater, comedy clubs, and museums. Dining out is a great treat, and I like to discover interesting new restaurants. On the other hand, I'm rarely ever in a bar. I rarely drink and I don't like smokey air. But I'm not uptight if you want to partake.

I can be content at home as well, enjoying a bit of TV (but not a lot), reading the daily newspaper & a variety of magazines, reading novels, and cuddling on the couch with my significant other. I have a comfortable house with a fireplace and a Jacuzzi and use them both regularly.

I get along very well with most anybody, and my work provides me with plenty of opportunity to interact with people. When I’m at home, I enjoy quiet time alone or with my companion. I often enjoy my solitude; I am seldom lonely.

I’m looking for a companion who is easy to get along with, and likely to become my best friend…(Drama?!? Been there, done that, no more, thank you.) An easy-going personality is the most important trait that I look for in any level of friend. I consider myself blessed that I find a variety of women to be ’attractive,’ and your height, build, bust, or hair color are really not that important to me, as long as you have a warm, pretty, and genuine smile...{HOWEVER, I MUST CONFESS: I have a strong preference for women under 40.} When I DO meet a compatible woman and the chemistry is mutual, I consider it a real plus that you are comfortable and confident even on those occasions when you're ‘dressed down’ and not wearing makeup or perfume.

Nothing could be more important to me on a first date than an opportunity to have a good conversation. I'd opt for meeting over a cup of coffee or a meal...or possibly a drink in a non-smoking bar. I know how corny 'dinner-and-a-movie' sounds, but half the fun of a movie is talking about it afterward. FYI, I rarely drink (almost every drink I've ever ordered came with a paper umbrella) and I don't like smokey air. {I don't mind if you drink socially, or if you smoke a little herb now and then, I just probably won't be partaking with you 99% of the time (need a designated driver?)}

As for the second date...I prefer to share an evening of entertainment with good company. That may be live entertainment, or a movie, or a long walk or bike ride or a day of sailing...or just an evening at home, comfortably cuddled up together watching a DVD.
