I'm a technical writer with a strong interest in the life of the mind. In my free time I'm walking a trail listening to a book, or waving my arms in conversation with a friend, or playing at the gym. Sometimes vegetarian, I take yoga, read the news, enjoy escapist movies & TV, remember jokes and birthdays. Friends appreciate my a) warmth and interest in others, b) deep personal values and sense of duty, c) clarity and attention to detail, and 4) obscure self-amusements that blur the line between sophisticated wit and random mental discharge.

I used to read a lot of novels, especially science fiction. Lately I'm more into non-fiction. Some recent favorites include Blink, The Tipping Point, Zero, The Wisdom Of Crowds, The Metaphysical Club, Pragmatism, Zero, Misquoting Jesus, The History of God, Mind Wide Open. I'm looking to throw a marathon slumber party with a woman who wants to talk about events, ideas, or something she's been reading.

A walk or coffee or a chance to chat are nice, as long as it doesn't feel like a job interview...! A museum or art show, or the zoo or botanical garden, might give us something to talk about besides ourselves. Actually, bowling has worked well for me in the past - maybe it's the rented shoes. :)
