About Me
It used to be that everyone hated self-summaries but now it seems like everyone is bored reading all we all hate self-summaries, so I'll save the rant about writing such a thing.
I am in the social work field - administration actually, training others who actually work in the field or supervise those in the field, presenting at the occasional conference, etc. I am a music junkie, preferably the more indie stuff, and find myself going to a lot of concerts if given the opportunity (evven if by myself). I am also vegetarian, so I cook alot and love the Vietnamese, Thai, and Indian restaurants in the city. I also belong to a Unitarian church and try in earnest to teach 4th graders about religious tolerance, dignity and worth of every person, etc. Although not religious, I have found that the sense of community really does help you to grow - as long as you are open to it.
Books: anything by Peter Singer, Signs of safety, The Boy Who was Raised as a Dog, DSM-IV, Civilization and Its Discontents, etc.
Movies: Once Upon a Time in Mexico (yes, the one w/ Johnny Depp, Willem Dafoe, and the one and only Antonio Banderas), The Matrix, Traffic, High Tension, Evil Dead (1 & 2), Map of the Human Heart, Cloverfield, etc.
Music: Postal Service, Rilo Kiley/Jenny Lewis, Neko Case, Pinback, Dust Brothers, Beastie Boys, The Fugees, Red Sparowes, Stars, Broken Social Scene, Wolf Parade, Ratatat, Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin, etc.
"Like the empty sky it has no boundaries, yet it is right in this place, ever profound and clear. When you seek to know it, you cannot see it. You cannot take hold of it, but you cannot lose it. In not being able to get it, you get it. When you are silent, it speaks. When you speak, it is silent."
