About Me
Hello out there. I'm a 28-year-old, single, college-educated, relatively intelligent, quick-witted, music-loving, artsy, liberal-minded, liberally tattooed, multi-ethnic male who sometimes likes to use an overabundance of commas his sentences.
I have a B.A. in graphic design from Columbia, though at this particular point in time I'm not using it to its full potential. It's become cliché to say it, but I would be remiss to not point out that the job market is in the tank and, from a graphic design standpoint, it has been for much longer than the rest of the economy. Right now I work for a large retailer as a logistics manager and am also the editor-in-chief for an independently owned and operated music Web site. Ideally, would like a career either in design or editing of publications. I also work the occasional freelance job on the side and sporadically DJ new wave and industrial at various venues. I used to work as a manager of a record store, and consequently have acquired a passion for music, as my taste in music is broad and ever-expanding. Right now as I am typing this I am listening to Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band.
I'm aiming to meet someone new with the possibility of dating but not necessarily excluding something platonic if that's where it goes. I would also not be opposed to something more serious than dating were the chemistry to be there. It seems like recently I have been spending my Friday and Saturday nights sitting at home and stewing in my own juices when I should be out meeting people. My one best friend moved away to California last year and the other one got engaged recently, so I don't really get out as much anymore. I work the graveyard shift five days a week, save for Friday and Saturday nights, so these have become my best times for socialization.
First Date
Meeting up for drinks (my favorite venues include a punk-rock bar and a goth bar, both of which have fantastic beer selections at reasonable prices) or food (favorites are Mexican, sushi and Thai) or something which would allow us to get to know each other (concerts and films are fun, but they defeat the purpose in this respect). I like a more relaxed date, though I can dress up when I have to, and pull it off pretty damn well. Moreover, since just about about every one of my conversations is usually peppered with useless and tangential trivia, at the very least you will walk away having learned something new. Not too shabby, eh?
