Let’s say you and I liked the same food, movies and sports. Voted for the same candidate and worked in related fields. Both liked jeans and moonlit walks. Would that matter?

The "stats" here can't tell you much about who I really am and what I hope for in someone else. Maybe these few lines can do a better job. I could tell you that I'm a quick-witted, sometimes-intense, reasonably-creative, usually well-dressed, over-educated, often-spontaneous, tall-and-blonde, non-smoking, sometimes Jewish, quite presentable Upper West Sider.

Friends would say that I do what I say I’ll do, and then do it right. A listener with a 6th sense (pretty good at the other 5, too) for what’s going on with others. A good catch, if you will. And genuinely, but not hopelessly single. My nieces think I’m the best. But what would all that say about the chance that you and I will connect?

I could say that I’m looking for someone with confidence, humor, compassion, perspective and nice legs (ok, I lapsed). Someone who knows themselves well enough to know what they want. And likes what they see in themselves. Maybe an outwardness that is light-hearted and respectful of others. And the ability to relax now and then, rather than rush to optimize every moment in life. Would that help?

What if I said that I'd much rather laugh than fight, listen than talk, give than get, run than walk. Maybe those are a few "stats" we can match on to start. I don’t care if you’re in the circus or the Senate. If you play tennis or the radio. I only hope that we’re “wrong” for each other on paper.

That would be all right with me.
