I moved here recently in December of 2008.

Hobbies: I love movies. I don't really go out to the movies all that much. I am a huge fan of Netflix and I abuse them like none other. I know that the website says that it is taboo for a man to talk about history, but I do enjoy it. I do own The Notebook and it is one of my favorite movies. Right now I am on a huge Civil War/War between the States/War of Northern Aggression (Whatever flavor you choose to call it) kick. One reason I love this area is all the history, which as far as history goes I am a touch, look, feel kind of person, so I love going to places like Yorktown to see feel like I am in the history. I recently started volunteering at a local retirement community. I do this for two reasons. One it is an opportunity for me to give back to the community and two the people there have so many stories to tell. My favorite thing in the world to do is to just hang out with people and swap stories. This is a gift that I inherited from Grandfathers and I love that I can tell a good story.

Goals/Aspirations: Well I just bough my first house, which means I am learning all about taking care of it. Professionally I am set up okay. I know what I will be doing the next 4 years or so. I am sure I will have to switch offices but hopefully I won't have to move out of the area. I have grown fond of Virginia, though I will always be a native Oregonian, I can see myself living here permanently. I am 9 years away from being able to retire from my job, I don't know if I will or not. I look at it like this: If it is still fun, I will stay, if not then I go. At some point I am going to start working on my Master's Degree. The University I am enrolled in has three online programs and I'm hoping to accomplish all three by the time I'm eligible to retire.

What Makes Me Unique: I am ridiculously sarcastic. I can tell a good story and I apparently never run out of them to tell. I am a charmer, or so I am told by many people. I am not afraid to talk to people and I can carry on a conversation with anyone so long as they can carry on a conversation. I love to play the devil's advocate. Example: after getting to know some people from a church I was attending here they told me they hated General Sherman. So I went out and did a lot of research on him and memorized many quotes, just to get a rise out of them. I don't normally do that people I just meet. I reserve that for people I know that can tolerate it. Yes I am in the Military but I don't wear a uniform (except for retirement ceremonies) and I don't deploy. I love what I do and do work some pretty crazy hours sometimes. I do complain, but it is really because I do love what I do. If you do ask me what I do it takes a lot of explaining and most people still don't get it. I still don't get it sometimes and I do it every day.

Music: I am pretty much okay with most music, I don't do RAP or Country, there are some exceptions to this rule, but as a general guideline I am not a fan. My favorite band is Led Zeppelin, though as with all music I have to be in the mood to want to listen to it.

Anything but the Dinner and Movie. The dinner aspect is okay. But a movie? Seriously, how are you supposed to get to know the person you are going out with if you are too busy staring at a big screen in a place where talking is taboo. Sorry to all the Sarah Palin look-a-likes that also rules out the library as well. I don't believe in kissing the girl on the first date either. I don't like doing things that are really competitive. I will play mini-golf, but I don't care what the score is. I'll be too busy doing warm up swings with the club like it is a baseball bat, yelling "fore" while "teeing off" for the hole and then hitting the ball with the putter like it is a pool cue. I figure it is mini-golf. It is full of ridiculous decorations, why not make the whole thing ridiculous.
