Meeting for lunch is always the best first date. For the first date, it's a good idea to have your own vehicle, and to be in a conversation-friendly environment. To appease the adventurous side, it can be a restaurant neither of us have ever heard of! Lunch is also a nice taste test to see if someday we want to try dinner, or simply Run Like Hell!
