I spend the mojority of my time right now involved in my children's activities. My oldest plays on two softball leagues, my middle plays lacrosse and my youngest plays softball and I am at games or practices most evenings of the week. When I don't have my children, I am equally as busy. I sometimes go out (though most of my friends are married). I often rent a movie and stay in, or go shopping (but I don't like to spend frivolously). I enjoy going to plays, movies, out for dinner, sporting events, comedy shows, concerts, traveling. I'd pretty much say I'd try almost anything at least once (I'm sure there are some exceptions to that).

I think first dates should be about getting to know a person and having some fun. That being said, either dinner or drinks out where you have the opportunity to talk with that person is a great start. Being in a city/town where you have the flexibility of "migrating" to another location if you are having a good time is a plus. Then dancing or a walk outside along a river or park trail might be a nice way to continue the fun or keep conversing. I think that first impressions tell you a lot about a person, but can sometimes be deceiving, so I think it takes some time together to break through the anxieties and apprehension to find out whether or not there is a connection. And in my opinion a kiss can make or break it (that's being straight up honest).
