Avid hiker that likes the challenge of climbing mountains and the socialness of hiking. I would rather do a hike after work than go to the gym, but still keep my membership for the winter months and for the interval training needed to climb those hills.

I am usually the first to coordinate dinner, drinks or BBQ events with friends. I think some of the best evenings can be spent cooking a meal together while listening to music, having a glass of wine and enjoying great conversation. I don't club or bar hop - the only attraction for me to most nightlife spots is either good dancing, a casual place for socializing or a late-night after-dinner coffee.

I am a fan of live music with a preference for smaller venues. I've seen Santana, Black Crowes and John Butler at the Filmore, Marc Cohn and Vusi Mahasela at the Palace of Fine Arts and recent shows in Vegas to see Dave Matthews and Seal at the Fox Theater.

My family lives in the Midwest and on the East Coast so a fair amount of my travel is to visit them, but I try to carve out weekend getaways and adventure trips, too. This year my big trip is a walking tour of Tuscany with time in Florence and Rome. Tops on my list for next trips are Bhutan and the Galapagos Islands.

In the meantime, I hike with a Team in Training group each weekend and may try backpacking in the near future.

I've got a successful career, a home of my own and an amazing group of friends and family. While it would be nice to have someone to make dinner or read the paper with I am more interested in finding a partner than a casual date and am willing to make dinner for myself until I find it.

I've been out of the country for a third date so the sky is the limit when it comes to date options.
