About Me
Putting into words who I am is sort of a struggle for me. I'm a very creative and expressive individual, and that means I'm pretty random. When I'm bored I really like to do activities that make me feel like I'm 12 again-- like coloring, making friendship bracelets, painting with watercolors, jump roping, building sand castles, etc. I will always be young at heart, I guess.
Words are my first love. Reading them, writing them, talking for hours at a coffee shop. These are some of my favorite activities. I've always found writing a form of release and reading a sense of escape. I love music's ability to change my mood. I love going to live shows, and sometimes concerts border on a spiritual experience for me when I get into the music. I find my home in the alternative rock/pop-rock genre, but it all depends on the situation and my mood. I love dancing to hip-hop at the clubs, and belting out to country or pop tunes on the radio when I'm driving on the expressway with the windows down. I can appreciate any music that makes me feel something.
I try really hard to be an open-minded person; I tend to give anything a chance before I make a judgment about it. I love new things, especially traveling to exotic (or quaint) places, and experiencing new foods. I was raised a suburb girl to the core (roller skates on sidewalks and home cooked family dinners), but I long to be a city woman. Sky scrappers, subway stations, Starbucks on every corner and martinis and museum galas at night. This is the life I dream of.
I'm heading into my senior year as a journalism student in college. I hope to move to Chicago after graduation next spring and work for a magazine there. It's the one way I'm hoping to use what I love to do (writing) and get the life I want.
I love nothing more then feeling that connection with another person...whether over a shared experience, or a story, or just seeing the same thing you feel reflected in their eyes. I'd love to find that connection with somebody here. :)
First Date
I think the best first date would be a fun, spontaneous activity to start with. Maybe roller skating or ice skating, or a bike ride. Afterward, a trip to the local coffee shop would give us a chance to talk about whatever fun thing we just did, and get to know each other better too. I always find myself opening up more when there's a latte in my hand :)
