First dates should be something simple, a lunch, happy hour etc. I want to talk and find out about the person so movies aren't good first dates. I usually don't do extravagent first dates like dinner at Ritz Carlton. Not because I'm cheap but because I want to know that the person is interested in me and not just being wined and dined. If things go well initially, then future dates at fancy restaurants, no problem.
