I'm healthy, reasonably happy, enjoy my work, and have a fun circle of friends. Which means that on the whole, life is pretty good.

I'm a musician (violin/fiddle, boudhran, voice) and poet. I've played classical and folk styles, but probably love the traditional Scots/Irish sound the best.

I'm a huge book lover, mostly science fiction and fantasy, and forever in need of additional shelf space.

What TV I've watched the last year or so has been Doctor Who, Torchwood, or something by Joss Whedon.

I've done a fair bit of traveling. I've yet to visit a National Park that wasn't well worth the trip. Yosemite, Lassen, and Grand Canyon are favorites. Lots of others I haven't seen yet. I've been to Italy and Greece recently and loved both of them. I suspect the unique combination of food, music, and gelato that is Italy will be hard to beat. This spring I'm planning to get to Washington DC for a week of monuments and museums. After that, we'll see what's next. I'm hoping to get back to Europe again this fall - possibly Germany. Sprechen zie Deutsch? I sure don't. Yet. I will by the time I get there - like a four year old perhaps, but speaking it nonetheless.

Who am I looking for? Someone who is reasonably happy and content with their life as is. Someone intelligent, down to earth, with a good sense of humor. Yeah, I know, we all want that - but it's a reasonable place to start. Someone practical who still manages to retain some hopeless romanticism. Someone looking for a partner, not a project. Someone who has something creative (art, music, dance... tiddlywinks?) that they feel passionately about. I suspect my head will always turn a little more readily for a musician :-)

Something easy going and low key. The proverbial cup of coffee works - or better yet, ice cream. Now that the weather's getting nice, picnics in the park are great too.

The ideal first date would be for both of us to end up wanting a second.
