I've pretty much been moving around most of my life, which has its advantages at times, but more often can be an exercise in patience. On the upside, though, I've traveled throughout the United States, Japan, Korea, China and Europe. Of course, such a nomadic existence can foster a certain understanding, and perhaps appreciation, for isolation -- which in itself isn't so grand. Personally, though, I enjoy the more social activities, albeit on a smaller scale. Find a small group or duo discussing anything from temporal mechanics to neuroscience to the Green Lantern and I'm there. Oh, and I learned English in Ireland so I have an accent that comes out now and again, which kind of freaks people out.
I'm writing a novel right now, but it's a bit slow going, so I've been dabbling in short stories.
My favorite musicians are people that most have never heard of: Patrick Park, Ed Harcourt, Southern All-Stars, Labi Siffre, Quasi, Metric, Caetano Veloso, Asobi Seksu, etc. But, in all honesty, I like a little bit of everything.

I'm partial to bars or coffee shops -- places that sort of force the whole talking and getting to know the other person schema. Shocking, I know.
