About Me
UPDATE Nov.13, 2009: Thank you to the wonderful friends I have met, chatted with, and the few I remain friends with from this site. It has been suggested that I change my profile to better reflect who I am. Laughing...that's a hard thing to do. I grew up in a comfortable, loving home and would have described myself as "horribly spoiled" as a child. I was allowed to work at age 16 (my dad was NOT thrilled) on condition that I kept my school grades up and participated in school and teenage social activities. As was probably common at that time, I couldn't wait to be on my own. I started college full time and at age 19 bought a 3 bedroom home, worked full-time at a WC/Liability insurance company and continued with college part-time. I married, divorced 6 1/2 years later, and raised a child without assistance from an ex-husband. I have worked for many years, at times 2 and 3 jobs, intend to work many more years and have had wonderful experiences in life. I am handy around the house...painting, drywall, roofing, rough/finish carpenty as well as all the normal chores. For enjoyment, I managed to achieve a 10 handicap at golf (although my game is terrible now). I participate in many sports and have done some traveling on my own, with family/friends and as "part of a couple". I love to laugh and enjoy life and most people would say I am a lot of fun, gregarious and out-going. I am probably more shy than people know. I have terrific, long-time, close, wonderful friends and enjoy the company of people who's ethics are rock solid. Laughing...now some random info: For the Men: I love good manners. It speaks of your upbringing and respect for others. I UNDERSTAND, but do NOT relate to "no strings attached" philosophy. If you are not willing to own up to your behavior, one would think you would change it accordingly. Do I have an agenda regarding a relationship with a man? No, I hope at our age we both know how to manage our lives. Where a relationship goes happens at it's own pace and in it's own way. What am I looking for in a partner? Hhhmmmm...One with whom I may think aloud. A fool-proof plan and an air-tight alibi? How about I let you know when I find it. It will not be anything I planned, I'm sure. I am non-judgemental and would appreciate the same in a man. I am always harder on myself than on others. I am NOT interested in young men, married men or men with a significant other that doesn't understand them....I don't understand your messed up mind, either. LOL....I truly believe one should never send a boy to do a man's job. I have been told I am very "sweet" a number of times. I don't see that, but I do try to treat others with respect, try to be kind, appreciate a persons good qualities and attempt to always be polite. Laughing....Now that I've alienated myself from most of the people on this site, I wish everyone the very best life has to offer and hope we all find someone that "puts the twinkle in our eye". I am always, Linda
Here is the profile I have had posted for several months:
I would describe myself as honest, intelligent, articulate, confident, witty and moderately outgoing. My politics are conservative, as are my values and ethics, but I am open-minded and enjoy the individuality and diversity of others. I have a smile on my face for everyone I meet and have always been an optimist. I find humor in life, love to laugh and would lean towards self deprecation rather than being harsh and critical of others. Golf, tennis and anything related to the water, are just a few of the many activities I enjoy. I have lived on both a lake and a river and love swimming, boating, jet skis, water skiing, canoeing, rafting, snorkeling and fishing. Although I love theatre, museums, opera and classical music, I am very down to earth and enjoy flea markets, art or craft fairs, festivals (Alma Scottish Festival...love the bagpipes), free concerts in the park, or rides to no particular planned destination. I paint watercolor, sew, knit, crochet and do traditional rug hooking (hand cut strips of boiled and dyed wool) for relaxation. There are many more interests and hobbies, but that will make for interesting conversation. I don't have a long list of criteria for a prospective significant other. Laughing....my friends, family and the people I have loved the most would never pass a criteria test...nor would I. My ideal friend/lover/companion/no limit role? would probably be confident, honest, intelligent, have manners, good values, integrity and be comfortable wearing many hats and enjoying many different social situations. I am interested in a long-term, committed relationship.
First Date
I don't believe it's about "what" I'm doing, but rather "who" I'm doing it with. I enjoy almost everything.
