About Me
A little about me… hmmm. Well after reading hundreds of profiles, one common desired quality people are seeking is a sense of humor. Call me cynical, but I’ve never met anyone that didn’t have a sense of humor, or a particular aversion to laughter. So for what exactly tickles my funny bone… Robin Williams, Ron White, Peter Griffin, Meatwad, Alton Brown, and Kosmo Kramer are some of my favorite nutcases. The slapstick of Tom & Jerry cracks me up. I appreciate the deadpan humor of Stephen Wright or Mandy from the “Grim adventures of Billy & Mandy”. A few movies that have a permanent place in my library of dark humor include Fight Club, Train spotting, The world according to Garp, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Lemony Snickets and Finding Nemo. It seems to me most everyone likes music to. I have quite an eclectic taste in that department. Right now at this moment I’m listening to the new Tool album - 10,000 Days. Tool just never gets old. Also Opeth, Type O Negative, The Doors, Metallica, Carl Orff, Wagner, Leo Kotke, A Perfect Circle, Peter Gabriel, Jane’s Addiction, NIN, the Chili Peppers, Evergrey, Killswitch Engage, Miles Davis and John Coletrane. Enough about what I like, I am a single parent and I love my kids and the time I have with them. Until kids started coming along, I thought I knew what love was. I know without doubt now, and I know it can happen at first sight. I don’t believe I mold my kids, I believe I unfold them. I would describe my parenting style as authoritative, versus authoritarian, passive or democratic. I have a strong preference toward single Mom’s; they just “get it”. After more than a few attempts, as of this writing, I have successfully quit smoking now for 1 year, 26 days, 12 hours and 30 minutes… roughly. I would gravitate more towards being with a woman that is a non-smoker or a desire to quit (to which I would offer my compassionate, emphatic understanding and support. Yeah, it’s a bitc# to quit!) But I have no sort of rigid intolerance to smokers. I am eating an elephant a bite at a time at H.A.C.C. so eventually I’ll be a nurse. In the meantime I cook. I’m looking to get out of that though; it’s just not fun or rewarding anymore. I have my eyes on an advertising company that has a clerical position I might enjoy. I’m knocking on the doors at LGH and Lancaster Regional, in the hopes of landing something that would give me beneficial experience in terms of my future goals. I’m not a neat freak, but I could vacuum the floor in my place everyday if I had the time. There is just something about the fresh tracks in carpet and a sense of accomplishment. I do not like to fold laundry, especially my little people’s clothes. They can dig through their drawers and undo everything in no time at all.
First Date
I hear Philly beckoning! Let’s make a day of it and start out exploring a museum. The Museum of Art would be cool, or the Mutters Museum. Next, let’s find one of those pottery places, where you get some instruction and clay to play with on a wheel. Then you get to paint your piece and take it home with you. A quick bite to eat somewhere, and then we could go take a dance class. Waltz, tango, or I think swing sounds like the most fun. I think its funny how I could come up with something like this as an idea for a date considering how anytime I find myself in a club or whatever, I’m a total wallflower. That sounds like a fantastic idea for a first date to me, but in reality it probably won’t happen like that. A first date would be really simple and friendly, to see if there is real chemistry there, leading us to a second date. It could be meeting at Borders for some browsing, so we can get to know each others interests and have some coffee. The park would be nice. A walk around town, or a mall to “people watch.” A second date, well it all really depends on a number of different variables, mostly who I’m with. We could go to horseback riding. I remember a place in Denver I went to a few times when I was much younger that had trained horses that knew the trails and you could ride the horses for hourly rates. Chuck E. Cheese, ice skating, roller skating (kinda corny, but meh, it’s more about the “who”, than the “what”) laser tag, anything but dinner and a movie.
