I've been told that my intimidating, beefy face masks the underlying levity, but that's because I take romance seriously. Smart women are the highest life form and beautiful women are more beautiful than anything else on Earth. Why should I curb my enthusiasm?

I'm an Earth Science grad student at UT-Austin, having moved here from my native Ohio in 2007. I plan ultimately to teach/research at a small school, while maintaining environmental activism. I volunteer with UT Campus Environmental Center, am a member of Sierra Club (environmental), Public Citizen (consumer advocacy), & US Humane Society (animal ethics), lend on Kiva to entrepreneurs, trade UYG & URE to beat the market, enjoy catch&release fishing and the outdoors, sports, yoga, and music: progressive rock, acoustic guitar, classical, metal, jazz, ambient, and folk. I'm mediocre with an acoustic/classical guitar. I've seen Spain, Scotland, England, France, Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein (haha), Switzerland, and Canada. I still need to see the northernmost US and most of Canada, as well as Ireland and Scandinavia.
