I've changed what I'm looking for to "friends" since I'm seeing someone now.
I'm a naturalist. I take delight in finding a mushroom I've never seen before, or hearing the "it's spring!" song of a chickadee. Big trees impress me.
I read quite a bit, most of my leisure reading is done in the evening. I have a big garden...too big at the moment. I store a lot of my own produce in my root cellar and get to use it almost until the next crop is ready.
I have an established career and am doing some volunteer work (not a huge amount, but enough to make me feel good). I want to travel a bit (L'Anse aux Meadows, southwest US, a few European destinations), but I'm quite happy vacationing at home, too. Travelling for me is to see natural, and to a lesser extent, cultural history. Major cities (Paris, Rome, Montreal) would be nice to briefly visit, but would never be the focus of any trip.
I'm a relatively humerus guy that can make people laugh (does
groaning and
rolling the eyes count as laughing?). I like doing things with a partner, and also with "the guys", but I do solitary stuff as well. I am very content with that.
I am not a "clean freak", but I do not like clutter. I try to live as green as possible.
I like rock (but not the head-banging, screaming stuff). Jazz does almost nothing for me, especially vocal jazz (Diana makes my skin Krall!). I have an array of music on my iPod from easy listening (Gordon Lightfoot) and new age (Jonathon Elias), a variety of popular rock (from Queen to Neil Young), and some new stuff (Neko Case). I don't actually care if your tastes in music are the same as mine. I don't like loud music of any sort.
I'm looking for a woman who would
consider laughing at my jokes (even if they're not always funny)...a woman who is comfortable in a little black dress and rubber boots (well, maybe not at the same time!). If you can handle a canoe, great...we'll stay dry. If not, maybe we'll get wet. If you don't like canoing, that's ok too.
I would prefer an easy hike or a canoe trip around a small lake, followed (or preceded) by dinner at a reasonable (=not fast food) restaurant. An afternoon date at an eclectic coffee shop would work, too.
