I am a singer, an engineer, a geek, a poet, an uncle, a brother, a son. I am more than that, of course... but what can you say in words?

I just returned to Arizona in Oct 2009 after a 3.5 year stint in Portland, Oregon. I have a bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering, both from The University of Arizona (R) (lol!). I love day trips and I love to drive, especially on a curvy/winding road. I'm SO glad to be back in Arizona, reconnecting with family and old friends and hoping to make some new ones and of course find that special someone I've been waiting for all my life :-).

My hobbies are singing, computers, chess, reading, surfing the web and the aforementioned road trips. I'm also an avid figure skater. I'm an extrovert by nature, but I enjoy my own company as well -- I definitely enjoy my "me" time. I love most kinds of music but lean especially to classical music (symphony and opera). I collect vintage computers (and some not-so-vintage). Once I get settled in a bit I'm going to start learning piano, it's been a lifelong dream of mine.

I am quick-witted (some might say a smart-aleck :-)); it comes from being the youngest of 4 kids. I'm fun to be around (although perhaps I'm an acquired taste :-). I I've never been married but have come close a couple of times; I've learned a lot about myself in the process. I keep very busy with activities that are important to me, but I can always make time for those that are important to me. Money is not that important to me, though I like to be comfortable. I don't drink or smoke or do drugs; I don't mind others drinking, but I don't want to date someone who smokes or does drugs (and yes, "420" is a drug).

I am a Catholic and I attend church every Sunday. It's an important part of my life. That doesn't mean that I expect everyone to believe or think as I do; but I know what I believe and why. Everyone has to follow whatever light they have been given.

My goals and aspirations... long term is to be a good husband and perhaps father. I have always wanted children but it might not be an option anymore and if that's the way it is then that's okay. In the short term I am working (as always) to be a better person, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. If I won the big lottery I would probably quit my job and go back to school and get a degree in something like history, philosophy, music, or theology. There's never enough time to do all the things I'd like!

What I look for in a date/mate:
Some who's upbeat and positive, who looks for the best in herself and others; with a sense of humor and doesn't take life tooooo seriously. Someone with integrity, intelligence, character. A woman who knows herself and what she wants, and who can communicate her likes/dislikes/desires honestly and forthrightly. Someone who can bring out the best in me and inspire me to be the best I can be. A tall order, I know...

For my status I put "dating" but... it really depends. A lot. I wouldn't mind making some new friends, and as for LTR... I'd like to get there, just want to take some time on the way. That doesn't mean I want to be dating more than one person at once, because I don't. It just means I'll need to work up to the LTR thing.

For a first date I would like to do something that makes the other person feel comfortable and at ease -- probably coffee or (with good weather approaching) a walk through a park. Someplace where we can talk and get to know each other better and relax.
