About Me
I flat out love to learn. I love being exposed to new ways of thinking or new ideas. I feel this can be done in many ways, one of my favorites is reading, another is actually talking and listening to people. Traveling, good TV and radio are other ways to do this and yes sometimes just sitting around thinking can open up some new ways of thinking. I love the feeling I get in my brain, a true tingling feeling when I am exposed to something new and intriguing. This what I am passionate about.
I feel there is more to life than just traveling, going to restaurants and different shows, all that is fun, but what is important to me is what you can take from it and that you do take something from it. An intellectual and cultural curiosity is a big turn on for me and an openness to different beliefs and ideas is also very attractive. We don't have to agree but can we talk about what we think we believe?
I am not into money nor am I materialistic, beyond a few weaknesses, like books and a nice TV. I changed my career a few times in order to find a balance in my life that allowed me to grow as a person. I am in management in retail now and I realize the non professional job is a turn off to some, but I am a more well rounded person for my experiences and if a specific job type matters to you, we won't be a good fit. My job could change at any time and so could I.
I am pretty liberal, despite my pictures, but I tend to not like labels. I don't try to defend every liberal view point and like to think of myself as more of a freethinker than anything else. I am not religious and not spiritual, I don't care if you are, I am the true definition of an agnostic. I would like to think there is something more, but I really have no idea if there is or isn't.
Some things I enjoy are Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, Letterman. I also listen to NPR on a fairly regular basis and like to keep informed on the world by reading the news everyday. Musically I am currently listening to Andrew Bird, U2, Neko Case, Devotchka, Nada Surf, Ryan Adams among others, I like to mix it up and enjoy learning about new music. Reading, I am currently reading Anne Tyler, just finished a Michael Chabon book and a couple books by a guy named Johah Lehrer, one which was called, "How we Decide". I like to mix up fiction with history and non fiction, like to try and stay away from the ranting and raving of some of the crazies who make the top seller lists often.
I am reasonably fit, but could be fitter. I was and to an extent still a good athlete and would enjoy being more active and wouldn't mind meeting a person who would encourage this quality in me. I don't expect you to be body beautiful but a certain level of health and fitness is attractive. We all perceive ourselves in different ways but "curvy" to me means "shapely", to others it seems to be a polite way to describe overweight.
Ideally I am looking for someone who would bring out qualities that I have, but left to my own don't come out often enough, so a complement not a clone.
If you have a picture of you kissing your car or biceps or are topless in your profile than we are probably not a good fit. Kidding, I just see that a lot in women's profiles.
I am a decent guy who has learned a lot about himself over the last 43 years, I can be quite funny and goofy and sometimes way too serious, but usually still look at the humor in everything.
