About Me
I am a professional who wears a suit to the office on most days. I’ve always worked hard, whether my job was in construction, another labor-oriented field or in an office environment. I am 6'2" and 200-205 lbs, relatively young looking, fit and attractive. I have recently begun spending a portion of my time living in Northern California, where I have family. I have family in Wisconsin, as well, so I’m torn between being here and being in Nor Cal.

I am creative and I enjoy home improvement work, playing piano, improvising music, singing, reading, gardening, traveling, bicycling, camping and sailing. I enjoy entertaining people and making people laugh. I love to have fun and I enjoy being around friends who can keep up with and add to (and even top) my humor. I especially love to romance my significant other.

I am not too critical of people. I care about others and treat people with courtesy and respect. I hate gossip and if I hear any, I always assume that there may be more to the story. While a girlfriend or spouse might not do certain things the way I would, I recognize that, in the vast majority of cases, there is no reason to criticize or even worry about it. I realize that I should not look for a spouse or significant other to solve all of my problems and I hope she is not looking for me to solve all of hers. However, my hope would be that we would make one another more complete.

I believe that I am more self-motivated than most people. I am a person who gives, whether it is of my time, my energies, my talents or my heart, and whether it is to clients, friends or “the love of my life.” Despite having two post-graduate degrees, I try to stay humble. At the same time, I am confident in most things that I do. I recognize that I am blessed by God with a decent level of intelligence for which I cannot take credit. I always want to learn more and I recognize that, when it comes to every-day life, I am no better than anyone else that I know. (Although sometimes in the past I have made the mistake of thinking that was the case.) I volunteer a portion of my time for, and give some of my financial resources to, charitable causes.

In the fall of 2008, my spouse of 15 years sued for divorce due to her change of priorities. We share custody of our three beautiful girls, who, as of October 2009, are 9, 11 and 12 1/2 years old. My biggest challenge, greatest joy, most important role and absolute highest honor is to raise my girls (or as I like to say, “to grow my girls”). Growing my girls includes getting them up in the morning, getting them to school on time, helping them with homework, helping them build strong self-esteem, showing them how a man should treat a woman (including making sure that I properly model for them in the way I interact with their mom), admitting when I’m wrong, holding the line when they tell me “but mom lets us do it,” showing them how to use power tools, taking them on one-on-one dates, wrestling with them, taking them shopping for mom’s birthday, holding them in my arms, playing with them, laughing and being goofy with them, teaching them not to cut corners, engaging their minds in thought-provoking discussions, putting them to bed and telling them I love them every single day.

I am looking for a woman who: has joy in her life, despite her circumstances; focuses on the blessings, not the hardships; is relatively self-motivated and continually strives for self-improvement, without taking on all of life’s burdens; seeks advice and help from others (but is not looking for her boyfriend or husband to make things perfect and does not burden others); does not talk spread "stories;" cares about people (but not to the detriment of her relationship with her significant other and her children); has a certain level of independence (which is exercised in a mature, rather than self-centered, manner); is intelligent, fun to be with, attractive, romantic, and sexy and enjoys awesome sex (within a committed relationship).

Ladies, I wish all of you the best in finding the man that you are looking for and, in particular, the man that God intends for you.

First Date
I am done trying to impress people. Over 15 years ago, when I was last single, I remember how I got tired of spending money on all of the fancy dinners, flowers, etc., I had to buy on the first dates just to find the "right one." I like to suggest that our first “meeting” is best held in public for a cup of coffee or tea, a beer, glass of wine or other adult beverage to see if there is a reason to have a first “date.” (I get very nervous when the fairer sex suggests we first meet at her place. lol) If, after we have met, we then decide to have a first date, I can make a few suggestions and ask if you have a preference or want to do something else. A few of my ideas for our first date might be: staying in to cook hors d'oeuvres or a main course or to practice mixing drinks together; going out dancing at a small venue; going to a quaint restaurant and ordering a glass of wine and an appetizer (or splitting a desert) while we and sit and talk (and maybe order some more food); going out for breakfast at about noon on a Saturday; going to the zoo with a pitcher/thermos of margaritas in my back pack; listening to live jazz or flamingo music as we leisurely consume tapas and drink sangria; having a picnic in the park; or going to a pub to drink, eat and play darts, air hockey or pool. In any event, there has to be lots of joking around, laughter, talking, fun and a bit of flirting.

James - Twin Cities has 2 roses that can be sent.
