About Me
I really, really enjoy exploring. And I mean that in the sense that I like going new places, trying new things, learning about new topics, whatever. Sometimes I wish I was born 200 years ago in the early days of America, just so my adventurous spirit would be more appropriate. Regarding hobbies, I really like writing, playing baseball, camping, dining at swanky restaurants, cruising around listening to good tunes, going to sporting events, drawing, attempting to play musical instruments, throwing a frisbee around, attending concerts, watching movies, playing with my dog, looking stupid while I try to dance, and whatever else sparks my interest. Really, what's fun just depends on who you're with; if I'm hanging with the right person, almost anything is enjoyable.
As for my goals, I'm currently in school pursuing a degree in journalism. It's going smoothly so far, but it's not really what I'm passionate about. Journalism's too structured, too restrictive for my tastes. What I'd really like to do is become a filmmaker. Yeah, so this degree that I'm in the process of getting, it's simply a backup. Once I've got it, I'm throwing myself into the movie biz. Yes, I know it's an unrealistic goal, but that's me. I'm an idealist. Oh, and while Kansas City's cool and all, I grew up on the West Coast, and I'm eager to return. San Francisco still has my heart. Before I end up there, though, I want to travel the world; there are just so many fascinating places I've got to visit, cool people I need to meet, new foods I need to try. Oh, and I really, really want to go hang-gliding. Seriously, how awesome does that seem? You know it seems awesome, no lying.
My taste in music is varied, to say the least. As I've typed this, my FineTune's gone through metal, rap, classical, punk, and techno. Honestly, as long as it's not country, I'm sure I'll enjoy it. From the most ridiculous pop on the radio to the most abrasive metal, I'm good with it all. If you're wanting a few particular artists, here you go: Clinic, Queens of the Stone Age, As I Lay Dying, Enya, Death From Above 1979, The Knife, A Fire Inside, Rise Against, TI, Bob Dylan, Deadsy, In Flames, Mylo, Dead Meadow, Icarus Line, NERD, Loreena McKennitt, Daft Punk, Throwdown, I Am Ghost, The Coral, Umbrellas, It Dies Today, Common, The Shins, Hollywood Undead, Most Precious Blood, The Roots, and I'll stop before I make your head implode.
As for being unique, that's for you to decide. I'm sure you'll think I'm weird, if nothing else.
First Date
Honestly, I'd want to do something that allowed for the most conversation. Maybe go to a unique restaurant downtown, go on a walk through a park, browse an art gallery, go to a Royals game, whatever would generate a good discussion. I'm a big fan of Westport and the Plaza area in particular, so it'd be great to cruise around there. And though I love movies, watching one when you're just getting to know someone is rather lame. I'd rather do something fun, something active, something interesting and unique. Basically, I'm down for whatever, besides a movie. Let's save that for later. Then we can discuss how much it ruled at a cafe. Like the new Star Trek movie. Damn, I thought the television show was lame, but that movie was sweet. Who's with me?
