I’m a responsible, considerate, honest, and creative guy. I enjoy talking about anything and everything, and I value communication with the people I care about. I like to make people laugh, and I’m attracted to a good sense of humor in a girl.

I have a strong interest and background in art, and an affinity for anything design-related. I like modern work, dig cool fonts, packaging, and anything with visual impact.

My true passion is music – listening, playing, and writing. I’m a guitar player and lyricist, and am currently looking to form a band again, and would love to play out (I had a band several years ago which reached a natural but untimely end). I love alt/indie, Brit pop, shoegaze, alt-country, etc., and enjoy finding new bands. It’s definitely central to who I am.

My creative side also shares a stage with my love for history and science. I love to learn/know about everything. I’m a sucker for details, and there’s very little that doesn’t interest me. Balancing these two aspects is a lifelong endeavor of mine. I guess I’m a “temperamental artist-scientist”!

I’m a Christian, but don’t entirely fit the popular label. My faith is in Christ, not empty religiosity, false piety, and phony or generic “spirituality”. I definitely need someone who not only shares this essential faith, but who wants that kind of closeness and isn’t afraid to talk to me about their ideas of life and how to live it. I want someone to share it with.

And speaking of getting close, I’m looking for a woman who can be honest and genuine at all times, plus equal parts funny, cool, dorky, and playful – maybe even all at once. I’m looking for a woman who knows herself and is confident in who she is, but who isn’t afraid to grow. I’m looking for someone who, like me, is searching for the right person to be serious with – but I don’t believe in forcing things or unnaturally rushing into something just for its own sake. I believe that maturity and playfulness can go hand in hand, and that there’s a lot to be said for just having fun and getting to know someone. A woman who challenges me is great, but I’m definitely looking for an equal, not someone to compete with. The most important thing to me is finding a woman who values a relationship and intimacy, and establishing that kind of connection, if her heart is leading her there.

I wrote this profile several months (and several dates) ago, and while I am ultimately looking for a long-term relationship, I've realized that, as categories go, I'm somewhere in between dating and long-term. I don't need to jump straight into something serious, but I do believe in getting there naturally with the right woman.

To me, a good first date should reflect who you really are everyday. At the very least, good conversation is a must – so let’s save movies or seeing a band for another time. As much fun as those things can be, I’d much rather get to know the woman I’m with, sans all the distractions. Let’s grab a lunch or dinner – nothing too stuffed-shirt or pretentious, but somewhere comfortable where we can actually talk, listen, and get to know each other without a stopwatch. I love eye contact! Follow that up by heading someplace where we can walk around and just let things flow. Maybe downtown, a park, a book or record store. I’m always open to ideas, but I’ll point us in a direction, and we can go from there. My secret agenda? When you’re walking and looking, hearing, and smelling the world around you, it sparks a thousand different topics to talk and share ideas and experiences about. And along with chemistry, that’s what going out with someone is all about.
