UPDATE:

Newly relocated to Berkeley. I've got a few friends here and in Oakland, but my past experience of living in California was in the Petaluma area of the North Bay. I'm looking forward to learning about East Bay city living.

My sense of humor is a little dry. Maybe even be called odd. And I'm a chronic punster, but they're all bad so that makes it ok, right? Laughing - even at myself - is a great past-time and keeps the smiles near the surface.

Everything I do, I attempt to have a good time with it. When I can't accomplish that, I do the best I can. Occasionally I remember that happiness is wanting what I have.

Goals: Be in the moment as often as I can manage it. Be usefully whole. Have fun living the adventure of self-discovery. Sound's a little woo woo, but I balance that out with being spontaneous. Whether its riding motorcycles cross country or starting something new, I would rather keep moving and growing than sit too long in a rut.

I read a couple books a week - mostly mysteries or some kind of history of technology book. Lately I have been reading motorcyclist travel books.

Outdoor activities - riding motorcycles, camping, the beach. Now I'll be hiking around the parks of the East Bay as well.

Indoor activities - movies, cooking, art museums and research libraries. I am a calligrapher and bookbinder - teach those from time to time and make book art as a hobby. I also volunteer at a museum for old equipment and that satisfies my mechanical interests.

I spent the last year writing a memoir for an online motorocycle forum. It was an interesting exercise writing about 2,000 words a day. No real effort involved with writing - I'd sit down and tell a story. It was very freeing and satisfying to write with that much ease. Writing my profile on POF hasn't gone as easily. Ha!

It doesn't matter what the activity is, it's more a chance to interact without the interface of the internet or phone. I get a better reading of someone in person and this is the web version of blind-date encounters with just a little forewarning.
