I'm studying history at Roosevelt University.

I love music. Like capital letters. If I were really pretentious I would claim to have some special relationship with it. Luckily I'm not, music and I are just like everyone else. I try my best to always be expanding the diversity of taste. I like a lot of 80s and 90s alternative/indie rock. Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Modest Mouse, Yo La Tengo, Wilco. I'm slightly obsessed with St Vincent right now. Lots of older punk like Richard Hell and the Voidoids. More recent stuff like the Hold Steady. Old Motown and Stax R&B, Neil Young. The di rigeur everyone has to love them stuff like The Beatles, Zeppelin, Bob Dylan etc. I have a huge music crush on Regina Spektor. Little bit of jazz. Good chunk of blues. Smidgen of hip hop. I'm kind of a snob sometimes, but in a good way (there's a good way?). I also like to go to bars and see local bands play. This accomplishes dual functions of hearing my friends play awesome music and getting me intoxicated.

I really enjoy playing guitar, piano, drums (and a few others including some odd ones like the concertina) and have a lot of fun learning new instruments. Don't ask me to sing though. I'll totally do it, but it won't be a positive experience.

One of my great passions in life is always trying to continue learning. If someone asked me what the purpose of life were, my answer would probably be along the lines of, "Shit, I don't know." But, were I ever to develop a good answer to that question, I'm pretty sure it would somehow involve working to maintain an ever widening basis of knowledge. Or having a good time all the time. There's merits to each.

I'm looking for someone who I can have a fulfilling rapport with. This could mean talking about anything from existential philosophers, to Russ Meyer films, to Saved by the Bell, to that one Norwegian metal band that burned down churches, etc etc etc. Or none of those and we just think it's fun to tell life stories. That works too. Someone I can make laugh. I like doing that.

I enjoy the usual date type activities. Thai Restaurants, coffee, bowling, movie, walk around in the park or something. I like to go to bookstores and browse around, finding interesting bookstore things to talk about. I also like muting the televisions at Best Buy and dubbing our own dialogue. You can really get to know a person by listening to what they improv over a home rotisserie infomercial.
