I am looking for a partner who wants music in his life. If he wants to dance to the music, that would be even more wonderful. I love to listen to and dance to bluegrass, old-timey music, classic country, mo-town, classic 40-70s music, rock and roll, and blues. I enjoy listening to harmonic jazz. Dissonant jazz, rap, heavy metal, head-banging music are not types of music I want to listen to. If you are a musician, I could listen to you for hours.

I am happy to dance with two performance clogging groups, but that is a solo activity, and I would like a partner to hold on to for other types of dancing. No experience is necessary, just a sense of rhythm. If you wanted to learn some basic swing, waltz, two-step, I would love to join you in lessons. But, I would like to be held closely in your arms as we share a slow dance or just have fun as we shake it up on the dance floor to faster music. Just moving to music makes me really happy. I tend to sing softly or hum as I listen and dance.

I also like quieter, simpler things like sitting around a campfire, or going for a ride on a bike or in the paddleboat, or holding hands while walking in the country or in the woods. Riding on the back of a motorcycle, or in a car with the top down or the windows open, gives me a kick. I love sharing a good cup of coffee, having a quiet dinner with wine or a drink, listening to good music, sharing good conversation. I enjoy going to live theater, watching movies, attending art openings, touring museums (science, history, art).

I am a "high-energy" person and am pretty active. I am usually willing to try something new at least once. I am the "eternal optimist" and have a positive attitude about most things. I love to laugh and have a good time, but never at anyone else's expense. I like someone who is kind to others, who is unafraid to give of himself. I appreciate openness and honesty. I believe a good sense of humor is essential. For me, laughing is an important part of loving.

I am recently retired from full-time teaching and now teach part-time--one course at a local community college. I have some time to travel and explore. I would love to find someone to share with. I am looking for a friend and companion, so I would like to go slowly and let things grow if there is a spark. I like to see genuine affection between people who are a couple. It makes me wish to be half of my very own couple. After dating for a while now, I believe I am ready to find someone special, so I am hoping to find someone who feels the same way. I am a very constant and loyal person, so, if you win my trust, you will have it for a long, long time, and I will defend you against all comers.

My ideal first date would be meeting someone at a half-way point, sharing conversation and stories over coffee or dinner and a drink. If there were nice music in the background, all the better. Should there be mutual interest, the second date could involve some activity like going for a nice walk, listening to live music, dancing, or going to a movie or live theater.
