actually I'm not that rough at all...

Wow, I hope I don't screw this up too bad. I am a retired semi-professional motorcycle roadracer. I'm originally from Michigan, and I've done plenty of exciting things in my life but I may be ready to settle down with the right person. I am told I have many good qualities...and I would agree with that statement and I think I have few bad qualities. I am very patient, love Kids and try to treat people with respect. I am compassionate, understanding and pretty easy going...maybe even a little too laid back at times. Being from Detroit, I am a car guy. I am also a Master Auto tech. It may be a somewhat inglorious career compared to racing but my profession follows me as I travel (not the other way around)and it is relatively recession proof. I enjoy my work and the fact that I can leave it at work. I am responsible. Paying my bills is important to me but life is too short not to have fun. I consider myself young at heart but with the advantage of experience.

Just so you know...
My music tastes are rather eclectic and range from Grunge to 80's British pop to a bit of classical and country. I also have Liberal social views...so if you have a thing against minoritys, we probably wouldn't be a good match ( I know James Carville and Mary Matalin make it work but they are real oddballs).

Speaking of country, I live in the country. I have a nice home in Defiance, and live with my two awesome canines- a female Akita-Echo and my Missouri Brown Dog- Ronin. I also have a rather nice flock of Koi...I like to keep active, whether it's working around the house, or traveling to Michigan for a track day. Of course, I do like my down time when I can relax and watch a good movie at home on the sofa. Being a Virgo, I am a romantic and tend to be quite affectionate, so if I like someone they will know it.

who I'm looking for...
I prefer a person who is confident,out going, good natured and non-judgmental. Someone who pays attention to the what's going on around them. I'm looking for the woman who can become my best friend. I'm not that concerned with having matching tastes in favorite foods or movies, etc, since I'm pretty flexible. It would be great if you're in shape and independently wealthy but it's not a requirement :)

As I mentioned before, I am young at heart but I really don't care for high school drama and those emotional rollercoaster rides...I'm not THAT young. I am looking for a enjoyable, meaningful, mature relationship... (jeez, I can't believe I just said that).

I'm rather flexible on going out and choice of activities as I really value good company over any particular destination.

I think first dates gained from the web should be very casual and low key. It's really not so much a date as a first meeting and should be treated as such without lofty goals or pressure. I prefer just meeting for coffee or going out to lunch somewhere quiet where I can actually hear the conversation. If things go well...then the next date will be somewhere a little more special.
