I'm not really into the bar scene, though I play gigs at many. I do like to go out but not keen on the macho façade and game playing aspects.

Keep it simple at first. Usually a very public and comfortable environment. If you haven't had an initial meet up before the first date, it's probably wise to leave an easy out, out of courtesy. If you feel at ease, just go with it and don't be too pushy or throw caution to the wind with your decisions and actions.
