Very fit and active red blooded geordie male. I am told I look much younger than my years and I certainly feel at least 20 years younger. Love foreign travel, my favourite place to date being Asia. Other places I would like to visit include the Mayan temples in Mexico and Machu Picchu in Peru. I enjoy reading the newspapers and non fiction books, having dedicated my life to learning about anything and everything which takes my interest. I love painting in watercolour but I'm not very good but I persevere and one of these days I may produce a masterpiece. Likewise my cooking . . . . . not very good but one day . . . . etc. My greatest passion is DIY and since retiring formally from government service I have made a career out of it.

I am seeking a down to earth and honest lady (one who doesn't lie about her age and body type - what's the point, you will be found out) with some similar interests. I accept that a perfect match is impossible to achieve and this is part of our cultural diversity. Therefore I do not expect you to want to do the same things as me all the time, nor to have your undivided attention 24 hours a day. It would be nice though to have that special trust and loyalty which builds up over time, and to know that at the end of the day we will end up together cuddling on the sofa describing the days events to each other in minute detail. I have a house in Spain which is a long term restoration project, and a lady with a practical flair and a desire to experience the good life in warmer climes would be a bonus. By the way, you either smoke or you don't - no half measures. I can't stand smoking, so if you do smoke in any shape or form, please pass me by.

Although I have an easy going side to my character, I am fiercely loyal and protective, and being a member of the old school I treat a lady with consideration and respect. I believe in total equality and I do my share of the cooking and housework. The past few years as a single parent have taught me a lot about life and I like to think that the experience has made me a better person. I am tactile and passionate, but not into displays of public affection. Of course a hug and a peck on the cheek and walking hand in hand are fine, but beyond that, decency and respect take over - some things are better behind closed doors. I have a wide taste in music and my favourite era is the 60's. I saw the Beatles live at the City Hall, have seen the Beach Boys twice, and saw Michael Jackson at Leeds some years back. Nowadays I'm into the tribute bands since I can't see the originals any more . . .

It would be nice to meet over a quiet coffee or drink somewhere. This could be be at the start or end of a nice walk in the country or on the beach.
