A Brief History of Me

BODY
Well let’s start here and move on to the more durable facets. I describe myself as athletic and I think my photos bear that out. I exercise everyday and most of the time I’m conscientious about what I eat. My favorite activities are biking, walking and hiking…when the weather is warm I go bicycling often. I take care to mind my appearance and I practice good hygiene. So in matters of fitness and healthy living I am looking for a like-minded soul.
I enjoy giving and receiving affection and the generous sharing of kisses, of holding hands or just doing a little couch snuggling. I'm okay with public displays of affection but I think they should be expressed with a little class( i.e., you shouldn't have to wipe your chin afterwards ).
I am definitely NOT into NASCAR, motorcycles, or bars, but it IS a sure thing that you can get me to watch OSU football.

MIND
I enjoy long and stimulating conversations, and I’m usually reading several books at a time. My wit is quick, my sense of humor bright, and I always keep it clean. Often, I find that I'm the only one laughing at my jokes( hey, somebody’s gotta do it! ). I am confidently undaunted by most intellectual challenges, but if I'm ignorant about a subject I freely admit what I don’t know and begin asking questions.
On the other hand. I don’t care at all for heated arguments or otherwise being at odds. That goes for those time and energy-wasting passive-aggressive mind games, too. If we quarrel, I’ll be the first to admit when I’m wrong or to say I'm sorry. In my life experience, I have found that pride is THE most destructive of all sins…so I have infinitely greater respect for someone who can plainly—and without a lot of protest—admit when they're wrong than for the person who is constantly making excuses or pouts.
I LOVE classical music and I attend the symphony when I can. If you happen to play an instrument that would be a really nice plus. No, I don't play but I will admire the fact that you do. I don’t exclude most other varieties of music like film scores, world, jazz, new age or pop, but rap and hip-hop are off the table.

SOUL
I am faithful, loyal, moral and well-grounded. I believe that integrity and honesty should be a way of life. I take my Christianity seriously, and that you are also a Christian by faith is a NON-negotiable for me. If you're not familiar with The Five Solas( don’t worry, it’s not cultic )a brief google search will yield you better insight into what I believe and why I believe it.

MISC.
My kitchen skills are MUCH better than average—and possibly even better than yours( yes, that’s a challenge )—and I like experimenting with the unfamiliar. I'm pretty handy indoors with the usual home maintenance issues, and out of doors I enjoy gardening, landscaping and the like.
And while I do prefer someone who is between 42 and 54, I'm certainly not inflexible about differences in age either way. What does matter to me is whether your overall habit of living has been healthy…not just for today or last week, but ongoing.

Update: 11-21-09

Well, having been on POF since late May, here are a few personal observations: after several back and forth emails( my limit is 4 )mutually interested parties should move up to talking by phone. Should that go well, let’s agree to meet. I’m not here to find a pen-pal, so an endless stream of emailing is not for me. If you’re too skittish about meeting someone in person—for whatever the reason—do us both a favor and don’t signal your interest. When we do meet you'll find that I'm very much the nice guy and very low risk.

Now then, about that first date. In fact, let's just say first meeting instead, since it's mostly about determining if our chemistries mix well or not. So any thing or place is fine so long as it's light and public. And if we then make a plan for a second date it's a good sign that we're getting along. ;-)
