I recently moved to a very small town and since the town is soooooooo small, it is hard to find anyone to meet here except at the local bar or at the post office (?). I do, however, work in an area that is a little larger although, since I have worked at my current job for almost 15 years, I basically already know everyone there. So, hence the reason I am trying on-line dating.

I live with a Sealpoint Ragdoll cat (he's super cute!) that is not yet a year old. His name is Ming. I have no children, but have had several long term relationships that didn't work out.

I am a fairly independent woman. I am down-to-earth, can be quite serious, but have a sarcastic and even witty sense of humor that often catches people by surprise because they don't expect it. I don't play games with people and prefer, like myself, that the person I am with is direct in their conversation. I am truthful and honest and expect the same in return. I am not the type to be suspicious or feel the need to check up on someone. I can be blunt to a flaw.

I have been told more than once that I am a bit of a tomboy. If you are looking for a woman who can swing a sledgehammer (I knocked out the sidewalk in the front of my house and put in a brick one) and also get dressed up and go to dinner, you have found the right one. I've never been afraid to tackle a project myself, but still enjoy being treated like a lady as well ... I like it when a man opens the door for me, although I do not expect it. ;-)

I would describe myself as someone who appreciates the simplier things in life. By that I mean I tend to not be over done or over glitzy. I would never dye my hair blonde. My house, that I am currently remodeling, is decorated tastfully, but not tacky. I do not collect nick nacks and I hate plastic flowers. I like simple things, tend to favor antiques, and believe classics (in furniture, clothes and many other things) are timeless and never go out of style. I rarely follow the latest trend and know that technology, even though I work in a technical capacity, has it's flaws.

I enjoy reading quite a bit (fiction mostly), computers, sewing (quilts), some cooking, current events, politics, walking, music (jazz, blues, classical, rock, a dash of country ... no rap), gardening (mainly flowers), working on my house, debating, the outdoors and any good conversation on nearly any subject. I have many varied interests and would describe myself as someone who knows a little about everything. I am also interested in learning most things as I love to learn.

I value sincerety and honesty in a relationship above all else. Trust is also important as a relationship really goes no where without it. I hope to find someone that is a good friend and a lover and that feels as though he can talk to me about anything and vice versa.

I am not so much into the "dating game," but looking for something more serious. I've never felt that marriage is necessarily a requirement for me, but a commitment is. (A marriage license is, after all, only a piece of paper ... the commitment comes from the heart).

I do not know if there is such a thing as a "soul mate" in life, but hey, the idea sounds great. If so, I'd like to find him. If not, that's o.k., no one is perfect and neither am I.

I do not know what to expect from on-line dating, but I am open to potential friendships as well from this service. Certainly those are valuable also and all good relationships start out that way.
