I moved to Portland from Vermont in May, and I love it here. This whole online dating site thing is a little weird, but to say something cliched: I thought I'd give it a try.

First and foremost, I'm separated, but I feel like that might make you think negatively about my situation, when in fact, I'm very single. Don't let this frighten you (the separated part, not the single part).

I have a tendency to get along with virtually everyone, which means I like to joke around, but I have a serious side also. I respect people for their beliefs (religious, political, moral), and I don't offer my opinion to other people without hearing what they have to say in return. I encourage diversity and I like to expand my horizons. I believe that's how one grows as a person. I will admit that I'm an atheist, but I have religious friends and I like to hear what they have to say, without me saying they're wrong and I'm right, because really, who knows in the end? My personal take on it is that as long as you treat others with respect and have a good sense of morals, then isn't that enough?

Continuing: I have two cats as you can see from my pics, and I love them. I have always gotten along with animals, and I treat them as if they were human beings.

Occasionally I'll drive back to Vermont to visit my family, which is always a nice getaway from the "city life."

I speak Spanish, but I'm a little out of practice, so am getting rusty.

I was a vegetarian (more of a pescatarian) for a year, but recently started eating meat again. It was worth the experience to be a vege-head, and some of the healthier eating habits will stick with me. Having said that, I do prefer someone that takes care of their body, and even though I personally don't exercise really, I think about the things I put in my body and how that'll affect me in the long term. I like to prepare tasty meals on occasion to experiment and to delight the senses. It's fun to cook, but even more fun to share that experience with someone else.

I'm also a homebody and I like to curl up with a good movie, but on the flip side I like to go out occasionally, especially after a hard day's work.

I feel that people are at their most relaxed when they're in a pub. The lighting is lower, everyone likes to relax with the drink of their choice, and you can sit across from each other and laugh it up about how silly online dating really is. Hit me up.
