About Me
I am a Broadcaster, Thoroughbred Consultant and Journalist and I enjoy my career very much. I co-hosted The Roger Stein Show, for six years until leaving in May '07 and I currently Co-host "Thoroughbred L. A." which airs locally in Southern California Sunday mornings from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on KLAA 830AM (The Angels station). As a consultant, I advise clients on purchasing and betting on racehorses. My writings appear in publications such as Horseplayer Magazine and Handicappers Report. I also own and breed Thoroughbred racehorses.
I enjoy both the fun and finer things in life including sports, music, cinema, art, nice restaurants and spending time with friends and family. I am very much into sports, both participating and watching with Horse Racing and Baseball my two favorites. I work out almost everyday at the gym both lifting weights and doing a lot of cardio. I am 5'10" and I stay fit/toned weighing between 163-170 lb. I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area, brought up in Cheviot Hills and am fortunate enough to own a beautiful home in the Hollywood Hills.
My favorite time of year is summer when I go down to Del Mar for seven great weeks of top class thoroughbred racing.
I have variety in my musical tastes with Alternative the type I currently find myself listening to most. I also enjoy old punk, jazz and will occasionally listen to some classic rock (if I am not already burnt out on it). Some of my favorite bands include I prefer alternative music, old punk or almost anything new. I do like jazz and will occasionally listen to some classic rock (if I am not already totally burnt out on it). Green Day, Steely Dan, Bowie, STP, Foo Fighters, Sublime, The Who, Pete Townshend (solo), Jimmy Eat World, Weezer, AFI, Velvet Revolver, The Offspring, Incubus, The White Stripes, Sum 41, Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, XTC, Talking Heads, Tears For Fears, Prince, Don Henley, Dire Straits, The Police, old, old Elton John, very old Aerosmith and of course the great Stevie Wonder. It is my belief listening to current music is one of many things that keeps a person from becoming stagnant and growing old quickly. I enjoy going to see live bands. I appreciate well made movies that contain great dialogue. My favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, True Romance, Usual Suspects, Chasing Amy (most Kevin Smith movies), Shawshank Redemption, 48 Hours (all OLD Eddie Murphy movies), Go, Wild Things, Good Will Hunting, Bad Santa, Goodfellas, Everything Is Illuminated, The Pelican Brief, Borat, The Departed, Lucky Number Slevin, Bowling For Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11 and Sicko. I am not all that much of a TV person, my favorite shows past and present include The Shield, Howard Stern, South Park, NYPD Blue, Get Smart, Taxi, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, ESPN, The First 48 Hours, some of the retrospective shows on VH1, MTV, E & FUSE, the news (CNN or MSNBC) and Letterman (depending on the guest). I love going out to both nice restaurants and cool hole in the wall places, but I don't eat red meat. I enjoy spending time with special people while trying to experience new things. I believe broadening ones horizons helps to make one a more complete person. I have tried to learn through the years to be very thankful for the good things in my life and not to take those things for granted. I love to laugh and I have a very sarcastic sense of humor. I am a huge fan of Chris Rock, Louis Black, and of course the late great Rodney Dangerfield. Politically I am liberal and prefer someone who shares similar views...
First Date
First dates should be viewed with a bit of trepidations as most of the time one or both people are a bit tense or nervous, on their very best behavior and thus not always forthcoming. An initial get togehter should distinguish whether there is chemistry and compatibility leading to a second date. The follow-up dates are where true feelings and personality surface.
As for me, through my adult life I have been referred to as very discerning/picky in my pursuit of finding the right woman. Thus, as people get to know me, I get asked the same similar series of questions. Without fail the line of questioning begins with "You are good looking, intelligent, have a great career, a beautiful home, you are 44 years old, SO, why haven't YOU been married already"? I've had quite a few long term relationships with some truly wonderful, remarkable women. I just have yet to find the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. My parents have been married for over 47 years, are very much in love, brought me up with love and manners and have shown me by example NEVER to settle! I am a complex, rather diverse person who is extremely devoted to the things that are important to me and I always find time for someone special as well!
I believe for a relationship to be successful there not only has to be CHEMISTRY, but both people must also be PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, INTELLECTUALLY and SEXUALLY attracted to each other. If there is an element missing at some point something will likely unravel. I also believe that you cannot have a successful relationship without a strong connection of MUTUAL RESPECT, LOYALTY, COMMUNICATION, RECIPROCITY OF EACH OTHERS FEELINGS, A CLOSE FRIENDSHIP and most of all TRUST. I find the biggest mistake people make when starting a relationship is trying to change the people they are dating FROM WHO THAT PERSON IS INTO WHO THEY WANT THAT PERSON TO BE! I feel fortunate that I look and act quite a bit younger than my age and it is my goal to be with someone who will keep me smiling and help me maintain that youthful exuberance....All I am looking for is someone who gets it, someone who is on the same page as me.
I hope this has provides you an opening glimpse and a little insight about me. I am very open minded and look forward to hearing from and learning more about you.
