| | About Me |
| | Hi! I'm a high school teacher who loves learning, soccer, travel, and meeting new people. Having been involved with sports nearly my whole life, I took up soccer at age 46 and love it, although I'm not all that good! But I trail run regularly and love hiking and camping, too. I enjoy reading a wide range of genres including non-fiction. My travel experience includes Europe and Asia; I have yet to meet the country I didn't love! My goal in life has always been to make a difference, and I know I do--usually in small ways, but sometimes I've made a bigger impact and I'm proud of that. When I have a problem, I talk to friends and do research to find solutions. Money isn't important to me, although being financially responsible and living within my means is. I'm pretty independent and looking to share the fun I have in life with others. Right now, I have no desire to re-marry and I want to make lots of friends with the knowledge that friendships can develop into something more. I am down to earth, interested in almost anything (except country music), and I respect and enjoy people whose interests and abilities are different from my own. Getting a PHD challenged a part of me and fed my voracious appetite for history and new ideas, but so did learning to cross-country ski and taking a music theory class (which I bombed!!)
You might be picking up the impression that my interests are pretty eclectic, which is exactly right. Since I don't always have a particular notion of what I would like, I try new things--I don't have any experience working with cars or building a house, for example, but I'm eager to try. Usually I give things a few tries before I decide I don't like something, and I actually enjoy a few things I'm pretty awful at, like playing softball. There are a few things I know I don't like: seafood, country music (I said that, didn't I?), and motorcycles.
The friends I'm seeking will be comfortable with electronic exchanges at first, and then some phone calls. They'll be relaxed about meeting me, not worried about making a good first impression because they know they have staying power. They'll be people who love their jobs and take pride in their work regardless of what others think of it. They will be no more eager to rush things than I am and will truly understand that the best relationships grow from friendships founded on mutual respect and compatibility, and that chemistry, while essential in the long run for something more, isn't an important determinant of who is fun to be with and who makes a great friend.
I am currently separated and while you only have my word on it, I can promise you I will NOT be reconciling with my husband. I'm only interested in friends right now anyway, not dating, so hopefully my status won't be an issue. We have had our court hearing and our final decree was granted, to be signed at the beginning of January (we requested this for tax purposes).

Invite me to join you when you are engaged in something you enjoy! Are you doing some volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity? I'd love to join you. Or maybe you are checking out a new band or park. I'll meet you there.
For a first MEET & GREET, book shops and coffee shops are great. |
