I just moved here from the Bay area and dont know know anyone and would love to make some new friends and obviously if there is a romantic connection thats even better.

A bit about me,..I am originally from south of Boston, lived a few different places; Sweden-playing hockey, Portland, OR and Boulder for grad school. I have been living in the Bay area for the past 10 years pursuing various interests but Santa Barbara promises to be a great change.

If we were to meet you might find me to be an enigmatic mix of a jock/intellectual, eccentric/clean-cut, impulsive/detached east coast migrant with advanced degrees. I dabbled in acting, love intimacy, read a lot about politics, philosophy, finance, eastern esoterica, and western literature while doing my best to resist assimilation into dominant/herd culture, i.e. the rat race, but rarely well enough.

I have lots of interests but what I gravitate towards most is learning; about our culture and others, people, politics, our place on this little spinning planet; these insane times we live in and how one might find meaning in them.
I am a voracious reader. I have 1000s of books. I can be a bit of an intensity junky whether it is physical- like working out, hiking or yoga, or learning something new; so I often choose these activities over just hanging out.

I may be a bit reserved at first as I listen and take you in but I am not a closed book just a slow read to some and quickly warm up to any chemistry that might be stirring and then my flirtatious and engaging side will get the best of me and hopefully u too.
I love intimacy- all forms, long for it; whether it is connecting in a spontaneous moment or just in the silence. Sometimes I find silence and stillness much more transparent and revealing than talking,...but I also love a great conversation and find connecting and learning through conversation very attractive. Intellectual stimulation goes a long way with me but so does affection, honesty, some flirty sarcasm and humor.

I do have a spiritual side, no dogma, institutionalized or new agey metaphysics for me even though I enjoy learning about different traditions.

Who I would be attracted to…a woman who is discerning and wise, kind and sensitive, sensual and sweet, open-minded and somewhat irreverent. She would enjoy her independence, can speak her mind, and act impulsively; the more eccentric and curious about life in all its diversity the better- as long as she knows how to come back to earth occasionally.

A genuine interest or participation in the arts and at least a general awareness of world politics is definitely appealing. Chemistry is most important so if anything I said sparks an interest cast a line my way and lets see what we can reel in:)
