I am a former Merchant Navy Officer, now working as a Marine Safety Manager in Aberdeen. I am not one of those health & safety nazis though, you know the type who stop kids playing conkers at school? I am working with sailors and get to be reasonably sensible.

I would like to meet an intelligent (not necessarily educated but intelligent) girl with a little curvature. I am pretty low maintenence, basically if you feed me and take me for walks I will roll over and let you stroke my belly.

I like going to gigs and festivals, also outdoorsy stuff camping etc. I have just got a really cool Campervan which I plan to take on many adventures, seeking stimulating female company to share driving duties and the aforementioned adventures.

I don't know if this is unique but I don't usually go for typical macho crap (i.e. posessiveness, jealousy, dominance etc). I do think that a man should be a man though, I see loads of guys out there who are "prettier" than their girlfriends, honestly how can they be bothered with all that preening? I'd much rather be doing something productive like eating, drinking or listening to good music.

Apparently I should tell you about my taste in music; well I like loads of stuff including but not limited to Metallica, Pink Floyd, Gustav Holst, Ennio Morricone, U2, Muse, Linkin Park, Kasabian, NWA, Public Enemy, Rage Against the Machine (brilliant that they got the xmas No1), Johnny Cash, Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, Depeche Mode, New Order........blah blah, it would probably be quicker to tell you that I don't like modern Rap and R&B and manufactured pop music.

I really like to figure people out though, I can appreciate someone for our differences as well as anything we have in common so don't feel that if your tastes are opposite to mine that we ain't compatible, it is often the differences between people that make their interactions so much fun.

Meeting for a coffee would be a nice "first encounter".

A first date would really depend on the lady in question, anywhere a good conversation could be held would be a good start, dinner, drinks, crazy golf, a walk, I suppose I'm saying the person is important, not the activity.
