About Me
Now that I have faced the fact that any man who wants children won’t hook up with a woman in her 40s, I'm in no hurry to get married. (And, no, I don’t want to look after yours, Bud.) Seriously, though, perfect matches are a 1 in a million and I’ve been through/seen enough relationships to know that I would rather be happily single than involved with someone who isn’t the right match for me. So if you’re in a hurry to get hitched, go bother someone else. If you're looking for a Friend-With-Benefits, take me off your "Favorites" list. I'm also not looking for a knight in shining armour, because I DON'T need rescuing.

However, I like having platonic friends to go hiking /camping, or whatever else, with. And, hey, if I do meet my one-in-a-million that would be a bonus.

I'm a caring, creative, emotionally mature, hard-working, intelligent, playful, spiritual woman of integrity. I'm more a night person than a day person, and I'm more a cat person than a dog person. (Funny thing, though, my cat likes dogs more than other cats.) I also feel it's more important to spend money on what goes into my body than what I put on it. I eat a lot of organic foods, free range meat, and raw plant materials and I can walk through the pristine wilderness for miles and hours without getting lost. However, I do clean-up good for a night on the town. I've recently updated my ballroom/nightclub moves, and I can dance until the wee hours of the morning. I also figure skate. When I first took lessons at the age of 37, I couldn't skate backwards. Now I can do several jumps, a few spins and lots of fancy foot-work.

Yes, I'm still planning to hike to the Comox Glacier, I just haven't found anyone to go there with. I'm also planning to buy my own home in a rural area where I can enjoy working my own land and growing most of my own food. Oh, and have I told you that the only crossword puzzles challenging enough for me are the Sunday New York Times and that I have a decent singing voice?

I'm looking for friends with the same qualities, who can keep up with me physically and mentally; to share adventures, hopes, dreams, and fears. It goes without saying you care enough about yourself and others look after your health and personal hygiene. (I hate having to ask a grown man to wash his hands before cooking me dinner, or put his work gloves in the laundry after using them to pick up doggy doo.)

You have a lot of stories to tell me and things to teach me, yet you are humble and curious enough to want to listen and learn from me. You are also spiritual and know there is more to this world than what most people experience. My ideal friendship is one where two people can talk for hours without getting bored and running out of things to say, and where both people feel safe enough to share their innermost feelings without fear of judgment. You also understand that marijuana & too much alcohol get in the way of honest and open communication.

The Impossible just takes a little longer.

"Love" is a verb.

First Date
For the first "date", I'd like to meet in a public place. How about an artsy health-food bar over raw juices or herbal tea. (A shot of wheat grass, anyone?)

Then if we find there's a mutual interest, we could pack a picnic lunch, take a long drive along one of the back roads to a hiking trail that leads to a waterfall, an abandoned ghost town, or a mountain neither of us has been to before.

On future dates we could:

1/mountain bike along an abandoned railway line
2/check out the local garage sales
3/help each other fix our vehicles
4/camp at our own private site in the middle of nowhere
5/take a three-day canoe or back-packing trip
6/do some gardening
7/Do the dinner and dance thing
8/skate at the local arena
9/play a few rounds of laser tag
10/investigate a haunted house

and/or whatever else we can dream up.
