I am hoping to meet a companion and friend, a kind and compassionate woman, intellectual, artistic, fit and a free spirit. Everything else is negotiable.

Fun is a mysterious word. I’ve had fun in lots of ways and it’s always better shared. Going grocery shopping isn’t usually considered “fun” but with a good companion it can be a blast. I do have preferences. Sailing is a favorite. So is riding a bicycle, practicing yoga, bird watching, ping pong, hiking, and playing cards and chatting over a beer. There are many things which are pleasurable while not exactly being “fun”. Gardening comes to mind as well as cooking and reading. As the weather gets colder I am enjoying having a fire again.

Although I’ve dreamed of traveling and have been back to my home in Hawaii many times, I prefer going places close at hand, particularly in my sail boat, anchoring for the night, reading and enjoying the water and its inhabitants. I tend to like small and cozy and prefer local restaurants, coffee shops and pubs. Part of that is the “buy local” perspective and part of it is the personal nature of small businesses. However, I’m open for anything, enjoy road trips and would go anywhere with a comfortable and enthusiastic companion.

Although my ideas continue to evolve with experience I remain deeply concerned with justice, peace, human rights and environmental issues. Outside of the usual things people like, trips to the beach, curling up by the fire, etc. stimulating conversation, music, reading, yoga, woodworking, sailing, horseshoes, cribbage, hiking and bird watching are interests that motivate me. While I enjoy going out I am a homebody at heart. I have a full time job, own and maintain my own home and I can cook and clean with the best of them.

I like to leave it to my date's comfort level. I'm fine with almost anything.
