Whoa! Things have changed a lot since I last did this!

About me:
I'm a pretty easy going guy, don't play games. I'm pretty irreverent but look serious so people often don't know how to take me. My sense of humor have been described as beyond dry, on its way to arid. My older daughter has threatened my life if I make one more pun.

I've taken up motorcycling-casually-after a fifteen + year hiatus, and wines-although not at the same time I got sedentary in my marriage, but I'm going to the gym and running (oh, so painfully) to continue to get fit.

I love 'smart'comedy, and the acting/comedy of Robin Williams.

I have a cat. I adopted him (actually, my daughters did, I just financed it). His name is Harley.

I still stay in touch with friends from my childhood in NJ (some would say I'm still in my childhood). I call them on their birthdays. They think I'm crazy but I do it anyway. Recently, I've called BEFORE their birthdays, and two of their spouses thanked me for reminding them!

I have a deep and abiding respect for persons in the military, law enforcement, teaching, and nursing. Ditto for anyone with an immigrant heritage, and people who can speak more than one language.

I tear up at the playing of the Star Spangled Banner. Please don't disturb me at that time.

My favorite poem is 'The New Collosus' by Emma Lazarus-extra points if you know where it's inscribed. I consider that my personal talisman.

Favorite Movies-Moscow on the Hudson, Starman, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Notting Hill, Forrest Gump, Independence Day, Enemy at the Gates. Others as I remember them.

I like country music-Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, Martina, among them. CMT Crossroads is a great series! I'd still eject them all from the CD player to listen to James Taylor though, or old rock-Yes, Kansas, Queen, Rush, Aerosmith. John Williams is probably the best composer/conductor ever.

I read, and then re-read books-but only the good parts- over again. I like the writings of JRR Tolkien, Randy Wayne White, Clive Cussler, WEB Griffin, Robert Parker and Tom Clancy. Beware of that last one-he also heavily influences my views on geopolitics.


I like women who like to laugh, and yet can be serious when they need to. Unfortunately, you won't get much of a chance to laugh b/c of my jokes (see above) Whomever is lucky enough to get me will have to find a way to fit in with my daughters, who are both great young ladies. Actually they're pretty easy markers. In any case, I'm devoted to them, and have been told I spoil them. C'est la vie.

Also, since these seem to be game breakers for so many folks, I don't:

-Hunt or fish;
-Drink (or other mind altering vices) on a daily basis. I do drink wine (see interests) but certainly not all the time. I've got beer and Iced tea coolers in my fridge, but have had them for a while. For example, I still have two bottles of whiskey I got as gifts 20+ years ago. (But the wine bottles are piling up);
-watch any sports-excessively. I don't even watch NASCAR. I do know the Gators usually win (mostly against OSU or Bama), the Dolphins did a lot better than last year, and the Patriots went 18-1 when it counted (GO GIANTS-maybe next year!). I could go either way on this long term;
-dance all that well (I yearn to be described as having two left feet and have had my dancing skills compared to Jabba the Hutt);
-have a name like Thor, or can bench press a Volvo, or run triathalons (yet);
-walk on the beach or near a lake that well (I usually trip on the sand, or fall into the water somehow);
-have deep, soul searching eyes-I have a 'lazy eye' and that really kills THAT moment.
-I really don't photograph all that well.

If you go back and re-read the above with your tongue planted firmly in your cheek, you'll get an idea of what I'm like. If you can tolerate that, reach out.

By the way, on hair color: there wasn't a 'Brown-what's left of it' or 'Brown on the way to gone' category or I would have put that.

Coffee, drinks, dinner, just a chance to talk and get to know each other. If you're really adventurous (hey,I used to say "if you have a death wish" so I'm getting better), I could pick you up on my motorcycle (you'll have to wear a helmet-I'll provide it) but that can wait.

We should probably just meet somewhere, having arrived there in our own vehicles, so we can each run if we need to!
