They say that one of the leading causes of rejection is 'falling upward', which is basically a term used to describe a person's desire to be with people who have what they don't have. Fat people want to be with people who are in shape, poor people want to be with rich people, airheads want to be with intellectuals etc. I personally do not believe that I am 'falling upward'. My height matches up with my weight, I'm a competent conversationalist who's easy to talk to, and I am down to earth. That is all that I ask for in the opposite sex.

My relationship with women has been a lot like my relationship with my father: awkward and nonexistent for the most part. It seemed that none of my efforts, whether half-ass or genuine, were ever fully reciprocated. And the human ego can only suffer so many blows before it burrows into itself in one desperate attempt to preserve what little is left. Sometimes this numbing state of introversion can become so normal and so comfortable to you that you forget why you ever wanted to know those people in the first place. But the solitude gradually gets less...encompassing, or at least it did for me. Still, the woman who finally does give me the time of day is going to have her work cut out for her.

I enjoy reading books, mainly on the ancient Near East (Egypt, Hatti, Babylon, Assyria, etc.) and I would eventually like to write a book of my own. If I do read fiction it's usually one of the classics, which generally have more purpose and wisdom than the cliché vampire literature that we're bombarded with today. When not reading I like to play basketball, pool, or unwind with some friends at a party or club.
