| | Hello, and welcome to my little piece of the online dating world. I have read quite a few profiles and everyone says they want honesty in their relationships, so here it is.... (now let's see what happens)
At this point in our lives, we all have "some history" and some of it was good and some bad. The key is to learn from it, and grow, and not to allow the bad stuff to define who we are, or who we can become. So with that, I will tell you that I am looking for something that is "outside the box" and quite different from what most people would call "the Norm". So, please bear with me and try to keep an open mind as I try to explain.
So, who am I? I think my friends would say that I am highly intelligent, yet easy going, witty, and fun to be with. I know myself to be highly intuitive, spiritually connected, emotionally grounded, and multifaceted. I am basically happy-natured, but I am also a realist. I am open minded and interested in practically everything. I'm active, adventurous, and compassionate, and I love to learn about new things. I love to get to know people, engage in stimulating conversation, and hear about their ideas, experiences, and goals. According to the Myers-Briggs typology test I score as an ENFJ.
I am not into organized religions. To me they are a perversion of the truth - they say that they are the "pathway to God", but then they do things that are abominable and hide the truth. Shame! To me it looks like organized religions have hijacked what was a pure idea and twisted it into a way to control people and profit for themselves. Sorry, but I just can't accept that. I maintain a close spiritual connection to the energy of the Universe - the energy that connects all things. It is in Nature and all living things; and it is in each of us if we open ourselves to it. To me this is GOD and it is pure.
Professionally, I am an environmental scientist and I help clients with regulatory compliance issues. I enjoy reading to learn and some of my favorite authors include Stephen Hawking, Brian Greene, and Stephen Ambrose. I am very interested in past cultures and their connection to and understanding of the universe. My other interests include photography, gardening, fishing, hiking, cooking (I happen to be a pretty darn good cook), fine wine, and motorcycles. I enjoy travel, visiting art galleries, and kickin' back on sandy beaches.
Physically, I am tall, athletic, and I have a muscular body. I walk/run everyday to stay in shape and I look and act young for my age. I am married to a nice woman and she is a great friend and partner, but during the past few years she has experienced a series of changes that have changed her personality and her feelings towards me. At this point she has no interest in even basic affection. Still, I do not want a divorce - we are still friends and I enjoy her company (at least most of the time), but I do have needs for companionship and affection that she isn't interested in being a part of, so here I am looking for something that may not even exist in our society.
I am hoping to find a woman who is interested in developing a friendship and loving relationship with me given that I am still married. For this "other relationship" I am looking for a great friend who is intelligent, funny, sensuous, affectionate, adventurous, and passionate. This relationship will be fun and rewarding for both of us. We have to have the right chemistry and feel a real connection. I realize that this may be too much to ask for, but does anyone else believe that is possible to love more than one person at a time?
The big hurdle I see is that in our society we have been trained to believe that we must find "the one love of our life" (our soul mate) and we are taught that this one "fairy-tale" love should fulfill all of our emotional, intellectual, and physical needs all of the time, but seriously, does anyone really believe that is actually possible or realistic given how complex we all are? Is there anyone else out there who believes that it is possible, and more importantly, that it is Okay to love more than one person? I guess this is my attempt to find the answer to that question.
So there it is. I couldn't be more honest about what I am looking for. So, what do you think? Is it possible?
