I got carried away, but the following is my top 21 list of ironies on dating sites:

First, are people who include their children or grandchildren in their pictures - who in the heck could allow hundreds of men or women whom they don't even know and whom they will never meet to see their children or grandchildren on a dating website ?! We all know they are smart, cute, talented and part of the "package" and we think nothing about dating and waiting for several weeks or even months before we introduce who we are dating to them, yet we throw their pictures onto a dating site on the very first day !! Go Figure ?!

Second, are people who have several pictures as to how they looked 10 to 15 years ago and then when you meet them in person, you feel like you are meeting that person's mother or father,. Even stranger are the people who use their old high school pictures or baby pictures. Heck, if I could go back through time in a time machine and date them, then that would make sense...otherwise is there any reason as to why I need to know what they looked like back then !!? Geesh !

Third, why does it seem like women learn their expectations about dating and relationships from watching 'chick flicks' and by watching "Disney Princess Movies" ? And likewise, why does it seem like men learn their expectations about dating and relationships from watching porno movies ? Why can't we have it both ways ?! LOL

Fourth, why do people post pictures of only their dog and/or cat and/or a horse or other animals ? Are they trying to find a date for their pets ? I have had people tell me that they post pictures of animals because they are animal lovers..so, does that mean that if you are an animal hater you are going to post pictures of dead animals ?! I suppose that does explain hunting photos, eh ?

Fifth, what is the deal with putting a picture of just a lake ? or a tree ? or a sunset ? or a mountain ? I don't get it, I spend all that time reading a profile and end up ruining my eyes trying to figure out if there is a person in the picture and to see what they look like, only to find out there is nobody there..it is like a game of finding Waldo, except for one catch, there is NO Waldo !!...do people really do that on purpose ?!

Sixth, I am now afraid to go for a walk on any beach for fear of being trampled by all of the people on here who say they like to hold hands and take long walks on the beach, yet come to think of it, when I do go for long walks on the beach, I rarely see anybody there holding hands and walking on the beach, go figure !?!

Seventh, I am now also afraid to sit on the couch in front of any fireplace for fear of getting drunk and being molested by all the guys on here who say they like to drink wine and cuddle in front of a fireplace. Who is ever gonna believe that cuddling is all a guy has on his mind when he is with a hot babe, with a bottle of wine, on a couch in front of a fireplace !!? he he

Eighth, I am now also afraid to go to Lake Tahoe, to go wine tasting anywhere, or go to San Francisco for fear of bumper-to-bumper traffic and being trampled again by all of the people on here who say how often they go to those places..yet, when we go out on a date all we do is go to dinner, rent a movie and "cuddle in front of the fireplace". LOL

Ninth, what is the deal with guys and their Harley's and women and their horses ? I am still trying to figure out how people think that this is a form of exercise for anyone other than the Harley or for the horse..LOL

Tenth, what is the deal with people who say they are good kissers, and so when the anticipation builds up to that first kiss and you finally kiss, it ends up being so bad it seems that Ashton Kutcher will suddenly appear from around the corner to tell you that you are being punked. I recommend that some of these people try kissing themselves before they make such claims just to see how bad they really are !! Not me tho, I am a good kisser !! lol

Eleventh, what is going on with the guys who post pictures of them together with some hot chick or the women who post pictures of them together with some hot dude !?!? Great, I guess it is best to understand up front the standard we will be held to or to see the person they haven't gotten over with yet..at least we can never say we weren't warned, right !?

Twelfth, what is even more confusing are when women post pictures of themselves together with a group of all of their girl friends with no indication of who they are in the photo... girls ? this is something that I would never suggest doing, because in almost every case the other women in the photo are way nicer looking then the one who we are supposed to be looking at !?! I find myself always wanting to ask who the other cute women are in the photo and can I have their phone number, but, I figure that wouldn't be appropriate !! Rule of thumb - Never include pictures of you and your friends, and if you do, never include the photos with friends that are way better looking than you are !? LOL

Thirteenth, Oh, and what about the people who tell us how cute they are and don't even post a picture and then tell us, that they would rather have someone fall in love with their personality instead of how they look ? Yeah right, as if when we meet we are gonna sit there in the dark with the lights turned off so we can talk and not see each other so that we can fall in love with each others' personalities !! Uhm, I don' think so !! LOL

Fourteenth, why is it that whenever we email someone who is not interested in us that person will either write us back to tell us that "we are not a Match" but won't tell us why they think that way, or they will write us back and tell us "I recently started seeing someone and want to see where it goes" but then we see them online every day after that ?!! Seriously now, instead of using a lame excuse like one of these, they might as well just say "I think you look like a dork in your picture, you seem way too boring for me, and you don't make enough money". You see ? Sometimes the best response to an email is no response at all..He He

Fifteen, why does it feel like when we read certain profiles we feel like we are reading a Sports Illustrated article about that person by checking out their sport action photos like water skiing, skiing, rafting, horse riding, harley riding, and running, etc or photos of their 'excellent traveling adventures'....makes me wanna ask them for an autographed picture instead of asking them out on a date...he he

Sixteen, what about people who post pictures of themselves wearing sunglasses and standing so far back in the picture you can barely see what they look like...I call these people '50' footers' or '100' footers'...let's face it, pretty much anyone looks good wearing sunglasses standing 50 feet or 100 feet away in a picture !?! he he

Seventeen, what about those who post pictures of just a car, a boat, a motorcycle, a house or even a swimming pool or any one of their other prized possessions to try to impress us...as if, when we date only to find out they are married, find out they are a psycho or even find out we have nothing in common with them...honestly, is there really anyone here who will date someone based on what possessions that they have !?!? I hope not !? But then again, I am still waiting for a rich, psycho, married woman with a fast car and a mansion to message me..he he

Eighteen, what is the deal with guys who pose with their shirts off or with women who pose almost nekked in their photos ?! I can understand it if they are on the beach, at the pool, or outside lounging around, but do men and women really deliberately pose and take pictures of themselves like that on purpose for a dating site !??!? I mean really now, let's be honest with each other...any woman who will date a guy only because he looks good with his shirt off and any guy who will date a woman only because she looks good half nekked both deserve each other...right ? Not to mention that we are all a little jealous because we don't look like that anymore and that they wouldn't date us anyways regardless of how we looked !? Grrrrr !!! LOL

Nineteen, Do you remember it being as hard to sneak behind our parents' backs to have sex when were kids as it is for us to sneak behind our kids' backs to have sex today ?!?! LOL

Twenty, why does it seem that when women say that they are looking for a Long-Term Relationship it usually means marriage or a relationship like being married ? Likewise why does it seem that when guys say they are looking for a Long-Term Relationship it usually means casual ? So, why do both genders say they want a Long-Term Relationship when in reality they are a gazillion miles apart in what they want in a relationship !?

Finally, perhaps the ultimate irony of all is that we all write in our profiles about how our family, kids and friends mean so much to us and that they are the loves of our life, how our jobs keep us busy, and how we spend so much time at church, on our hobbies, sports and interests, which pretty much implies that unless both of us are willing to take last place in each others' lives than we probably won't have much time for each other...which when you think about it, oddly and eerily sounds alot like why most all of us are either single or divorced in the first place and why we find ourselves on a dating site like this ?!?

I think I am going to take a break, my hands are tired from typing !! LOL
