About Me
Loyal, generous and well-intentioned; intuitive and intellectually curious. I have a dry and sometimes sardonic sense of humor---not a pie in the face a la the Three Stooges or Marx Brothers type of guy. I've been known to be a perfectionist---more about myself than others. A good listener, I can be introspective. But I also enjoy the company of people whom I like.
I look younger than my age. That can be both good and bad. I went to NYU Film School in the go-go 80s, then worked in the film biz briefly. Currently, I'm a magazine editor/writer, managing to stay afloat in the pub biz, which is no small feat. I'm a long-time denizen of the East Village and have witnessed its many changes, some of which are good and some not so good. Used to meditate and do yoga regularly, but have unfortunately become a slacker in this regard. Gave up booze a few years ago but still hang out regularly around people who knock 'em back.
I like small, intimate, ethnic restaurants: Indian, Thai, Moroccan, Afghani, Korean, Japanese, and so on.
Current events and social justice issues will engage my intellect---a good political discussion is refreshing sometimes---but I also enjoy the frivolous aspects of life, like going to the beach or attending a sporting event. I love films---used to be a member of Film Forum---as well as cultural events in general: concerts, museums, plays, etc. I'm sophisticated but not a snob; I like to learn new things and am always willing to share what I know with others without condescending.
I don't have a particular type: All ex's were different in looks and personality. Intelligence, curiosity about the world, integrity, and generosity are attractive qualities; a good heart is what really matters. I like those who are open-minded and won't pass out if occasionally asked to go to a movie that has subtitles. Other dislikes: pretentiousness, affectation, trying exceedingly hard to be ironic or extra clever. Caveat emptor: I'm not a big fan of tattoos and piercings. Call me old-fashioned if you like.
First Date
Experience has taught me that a first date is best done an informal setting, i.e., coffee, that type of thing. Anything after that can, and probably should, be more involved. I am open to suggestions.
