About Me
Hi there. I Lived in NYC until 2006, with the exception of a year in Los Angeles and a year in France. I left home at 16, put myself through college. During the 80’s I began a fine art career as a painter. In the 90's, I stumbled backwards into writing, and since 1994 I have made my living as a journalist. I am tattooed, physically active (race bicycles), vegetarian, politically active and politically liberal. Very liberal, which means if you are a republican, we will not be a good match. I have recently returned to the {weird} world of fine art. I am making paintings again, when time permits. I say "weird" because it is a world inhabited by poseurs and dead sharks. If you know what the "dead shark" reference is, I'm impressed. If I die tomorrow, I hope they put on my tombstone just the words “Loving Father”. My daughter will always be my heart and my number one priority. I love her so. I would like to meet a great woman. I would like to have someone special in my life. I want to fall in love again someday. It is elusive, but hopefully not impossible. My hope is to meet a woman who is well-informed on local and global issues, social and political. A woman who is progressive-minded, and non-religious, and doesn't like to shoot guns or attend college football games. I have come to be thoroughly convinced that I won't find her at this website, or probably in Georgia at all. But as they say, hope springs eternal... Well, here goes another subject: I am non-religious and am most comfortable around non-religious people. I just prefer people over sheeple. Weird, huh? As you may have surmised, I'm not a member of the god squad. But it seems over 99% of the women on this site are. Many have strong christian beliefs, and feel [oddly] compelled to share them with the world. Oops! Kinda contradicts that whole "PERSONAL relationship with god" phrase that church people love to throw at you every 5 seconds...Hmmmm. Given all the women here on POF that love jesus, if he shows up on this site he's going to get a lot of dates. You go, guy! Well, at least with those ladies that go for the Gregg Allman type. Is there something in the water in Georgia that converts people into cult-following pod people? I have stopped drinking water altogether...I'm not taking any chances. Maybe it's something about the fish logo that is attracting all the christian women, or maybe this is just the way it is in the south. They do call it the "bible belt" after all, but that belt sure doesn't fit me; WAY too tight and restrictive. I don't use mythological doctrine to dictate how I live. That would not be intelligent or fun. The reason why so many people feel a need for religion in their lives eludes me, but whatever. It's your life, not mine. But I do like the incense. It smells nice. And the pope's funny hat is always good for comedic purposes. Sorry to have spent so much space here on the subject of religion. It's actually not a subject that warrants the coverage, but I figured a counterbalance to all the "I am a christian lady and my mate should be too" stuff was needed. Here are some actual lines from the 'profiles' of some women in the Atlanta area: "Please have some sort of belief in God/Higher Power and have respect for the Bible. Ideally you will want to strive to have an actual relationship with God and try to line up your life with his thinking."....Or here's another entertaining ditty: "Seeking a sweet GENUINE Christian believer/follower of Christ. I am seeking someone who is genuinely seeking to live the way Christ intended" (and of course she's posing with a cross)...I'm particularly fond of this one, from a young cultist in Atlanta: "God and church are very, VERY important things in my life. I make God my priority and everything else comes after"....But my "Golden Crucifix" award goes to this scintillating diatribe: "I am a Christian and I only date Christian men. That means men who are saved. I would like a man that is active in church and enjoys going like myself. Many people have different definitions of what a Christian is. To me it is someone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.".....WTF? Are you friggin' kidding me? Is this stuff for real? Personally, I worship Rocky and Bullwinkle. I hope you don't mind. I was worshiping the Power Rangers, but I converted. I'm hopeful that Sponge Bob Square Pants will be the next pope. Wow, I’m exhausted. Writing this stuff sucks. It’s your turn now. If you like my 'profile' reach out and say hello. Thanks. That would be nice. And by the way, to the lady that told me I am a heretic and that she's gong to pray for me, um, I should say "Thanks" to her too, I guess. What would I do without her? Probably end up a cherry Pop-tart, doomed to spend all eternity in the toaster oven of damnation...Oh, and one more thing. To all the white gals on this site that end their profile with a little proviso like "caucasians only", "I only date within my own race", or "white men only", please add the line "...because I am a cracker racist" to the end of that. Ok, thanks! Honesty is, after all, the best policy. And here are a few actual lines from some profiles on this site, provided, verbatim, for your reading pleasure: "I do not date outside my race." "I'm only interested in hearing from white men." Or this woman, who took a "United Nations" approach to her exclusivity: "I DO NOT DATE black guys, Iranians, Iraqians, [or] Lebanese." [Yes, she really wrote "Iraqians"]. And lastly: "I choose to not date outside of my own race...and I'm not racist, and not interested in hearing speeches regarding how "God created us all" or "we are all equal" or "we all bleed red"..." Well, thanks for YOUR speech, Sweetheart. Listening to racists defending racism is always entertaining. I might seem like an unlikely candidate to trumpet political correctness, but I'm fascinated that a great deal of the W.O.G. (Women Of Georgia) on P.O.F. (Plenty Of Fish) don't seem to care who they offend, as long as they make it perfectly clear that they segregate their personal lives. Wow. It took southern women, on a dating site, in 2009, to realize the best way to conflate and eviscerate the first amendment and the Civil Rights Act, simultaneously. Crazy world, ain't it? And on an ultra-serious note, here's one last thing, assuming you read this far, which is extremely doubtful. Not to be an alarmist or a fear-monger, but the U.S. Department of Justice advises that adults never put photos of their children on 'public' websites. I don't know how so many women in the Atlanta area apparently missed that memo, but if you don't realize the risk, maybe the statistic that 797,500 children disappeared in America last year will serve as a wake up call.
